What’s perhaps most revealing in this announcement by @WayneBarnesRef is the acknowledgment of the time commitment required of elite officials and how that impacts their personal life and those of their loved ones - the game owes an awful lot to those who do make the sacrifice.

Rugby World Cup format from 2027: - Expanded to 24 teams (6 pools of 4 teams) - Round of 16: Top two teams from each pool, along with the best four 3rd-placed teams. - Reduced 6-week [7-weekend] window. Pool phase reduced from 4 to 5 weeks. - Pool draw "as late as possible."

On the subject of “that” Spurs v Liverpool VAR decision / mess (with the review & audio footage now released by PGMOL), I have a simple suggestion: Get rid of the offside rule. It worked for hockey. It would work for football. Simple! 😉
