We're heartbroken to learn of the passing of Nenko Gantchev in ICE custody at North Lake detention center. This isn't the first death in Michigan immigration detention. We've long called for reforms to ensure health & safety. We now look to ICE for a thorough review & report.

🚨 President Trump expanded the travel ban to 39 countries. Similar policy was biased in the first Trump admin, when thousands protested at airports, and it's still discriminatory. This cruel policy affects many Michiganders trying to reunite or visit loved ones. Effective Jan 1.

Sadly, today the Michigan Supreme Court authorized the state to violate the rights of Michiganders with impunity. Ruling did not reach the merits of the case brought by MIRC & @farmstandorg @SugarLawJustice for worker & immigrant justice. Onus is now on governor & #MILEG to act.

Did you know? 🔵 MIRC represents all unaccompanied children in Michigan in federal immigration custody, as well as many of those who've been released to sponsors. 🔵 MIRC is the only legal services provider individuals can call for free from immigration detention in Michigan.
