News. HMRC has now said there will be NO fine for not filing self-assessment tax returns by 31 Jan - effectively the new filing deadline is 28 Feb. Though you still must pay on time, or face charges/interest. See

Self Assessment customers who cannot file their tax return by the 31 January 2021 deadline will not receive a late filing penalty if they file online by 28 February.
