No advertising at the Olympics became a key part of the brand - & eventually lead to increased sponsorship investment. Coke marketing boss once told Samaranch they would withdraw if IOC introduced stadium advertising.
One of my favorite things about Wimbledon is how they intentionally sacrifice tens of millions of dollars in annual sponsorship income to keep the courts clean. Just look at the difference between Wimbledon and the US Open. Similar to the Masters, they focus on the experience.

Great new travel communication policy from @easyJet.Text details of potential short delay but say nothing on airport board, so as not to broadcast delays to everyone. Wait till after scheduled take off to admit short delay - then extend every 30 mins, so again not to show how bad.

IOC President Bach stepping down today - after 12 years, & a very tough presidency. He did not have it easy from Covid, to Rio dysfunction to Russia. Leaves a big legacy, IOC stronger than when he took over - and big shoes for his successor Kirsty Coventry to fill!.

Winner of the airline customer service of the month award. @easyJet cancels flight after 2 hour wait at airport; offers next available flight in 2 days! At airport staff could not care less, bordering on rude. Airport info boards remove all sign of Easyjet - maybe a sign to come?.

If Youth Games only legacy in 12 years, massive missed opportunity!.
One of the legacies of 8th IOC President Jacques Rogge was the creation of the Youth Olympic Games. As a result of his vision, the inaugural YOG took place in 2010 in Singapore; and the 8th edition will take place next year in @jojdakar2026.
