Excited to announce that today will be my first day
@Bungie
as an Associate Weapons Designer! This is a dream come true for me, and I can’t wait to be a part of an amazing team making awesome stuff for the sandbox that I’ve spent the last 7 years thinking way too much about!
Blaming someone in narrative for the rolls on Mindbender is right up there with blaming the weapons team for Dungeon bugs, in terms of having basically a negative understanding for how game development works.
Sweats in destiny talking about the different metas:
1. AR meta - too low skill
2. Scout meta - too passive
3. Pulse meta - too much flinch
4. Sidearm meta - too annoying
5. HC meta - well hold on now that sounds like it might be fun, we should give this one a shot again
If you want to debate whether or not going Flawless is less prestigious this season, that’s one thing. But I think something we can all agree on after today is that Trials is 100% better when everyone can participate meaningfully and be rewarded for doing so.
Bungie: makes Devils Ruin quest short and easy
Community: this is bullshit the game has been watered down for casuals
Bungie: makes corridors of time quest take literally thousands of cumulative hours
Community: this is bullshit the game is catered to streamers
For now, it appears I’m still employed. Today was a super shitty day for a bunch of really good people who didn’t deserve it. I hope they’re all able to land on their feet and find something better.
99% of FPS games: MnK is superior to controller in every way
MnK players: Y’all should drop the sticks if you want to perform at the highest level
Halo Infinite: Controller is slightly more accurate
MnK players: Nerf controller this is an unacceptable travesty
The difference between the negative feelings at similar points in Destiny 1’s life compared to Destiny 2’s life is pretty easy for me to summarize:
In D1 I wanted to play more but there wasn’t anything to do.
In D2 there’s a lot to do but I don’t want to play anymore.
Man the salt over stasis is worse than actual stasis at this point.
I seriously feel like I’m taking crazy pills, am I the only person in the game who is hardly ever getting frozen? What is making my experience so wildly different than these other players?
Excited about the Weapons focused TWaB today but wish you had someplace to go that would break it all down for you?
@DestinyMBP
is thrilled to welcome
@Bungie
’s Weapons Lead Chris Proctor back to our show tonight to discuss the upcoming changes to weapons and do a small Q&A!
“UsAgE dOeSn’T mAtTeR, nErF Le MoNaRqUe”
Disregard the fact that hand cannons make up 20 of the top 100 weapons and account for a 25% of all PvP weapon kills by themselves. And that a HC is essential in the most annoying LM build.
If you really want balance, nerf hand cannons.
✋
1. Not a streamer
2. Have a 40 hour a week job outside of gaming
3. Don’t like trials in its current state
4. Was at the summit
Wasn’t planning to say anything, but this type of comment is a real bummer to see because it’s straight up untrue.
I just wanted to step in and say: Heard loud and clear on the feedback with our current seasonal backbones. The team is excited to put some more creative risk in seasonal progressions, but there will be some time before the feedback catches up with the dev cycle. Preview:
Worst part of being on D2 Twitter is seeing people with inflated egos bash others for which weapon, input, or sensitivity they choose to use.
Somewhat ironic that this particular player uses smurf accounts to pad their stats and still feels the need to disparage other players.
Sweats in shambles on the timeline today.
“Why do they keep nerfing the movement skilgap?!?!”
Do y’all really think slide shotgunning is a skill gap? That shit is like baby’s first PvP strategy and clearly some of y’all have yet to learn how to do anything else.
Harsh truth, but “it increases the skillgap” is almost universally used by people who are abusing something that is overly rewarding for its cost/downside and they don’t want it to get nerfed.
@ItsBobbySocks
They’re listening, just to the wrong people. Mercules904 is the perfect example of this. Homie has the worst takes on pvp In history and I think he was/is a consultant at Bungie…
Just FYI to set expectations, Forerunner is not getting the aim assist falloff buff that standard sidearms are getting. Forerunner is actually set up as a modified 180 HC under the hood, with the sidearm attributes applied to it for thematic and perk/mod purposes.
Im officially in love with Dead Man’s Tale. Can’t get enough of it in PvP, making a whole build around it. May be one of the most satisfying guns I’ve ever used in destiny.
Love everything about it: firing sound, reload animation, open sight picture, it’s all fantastic.
There’s a grown ass man sitting in front of me on my flight, quietly crying as he watches Iron Man’s funeral scene in Endgame, and I can’t say shit because I’m behind him doing the exact same thing
Destiny 2 was originally about aiming and not just movement, which is why it’s primarily an ADS FPS, almost every movement ability punishes your ability to engage with weapons or has a cool down, and they made aiming easy with tons of aim assist.
Alright guys, spent a good bit of time redesigning my Accuracy, Aim Assist, Range, and Zoom graphics to update them post-Firing Range. Changed the phraseology to match what Bungie used and added some additional diagrams and definitions to hopefully clarify it as much as possible!
So for today's big news:
First day at
@Bungie
is done! Proud to announce that I'm the newest Gameplay Specialist, joining
@Holtzmann_YT
and
@SpotTheStriker
on the team.
Only downside to this is that
@DestinyMBP
will be taking a 3 month hiatus while I finish out the contract.
TL;DR -
1. AE is getting a large rebalance in the future, with primary weapons becoming significantly more accurate without any investment in the stat (like Season 16 Icarus level accuracy)
2. In the meantime, artifact helmet mod that grants AE and Air Assault gives +30 on kills
Yall have been given the opportunity to make some of the most busted broken bat shit crazy weapons D2 has ever seen. You pretty much get the chance to make your own exotic weapon.
And you stop at Ammit...
I’ve never had this much fun in a destiny campaign before, not even close. It legitimately is bringing me the type of joy I usually only get from playing the Halo campaigns on legendary, and that’s a very high bar to cross.
Some changes in here for Crucible:
Trials
1. Protection for matches that start man down
2. Increased drop rates for adepts on 7-win cards post flawless
3. Radiant Cliffs rework
Checkmate
1. Reduced bow damage
2. Reduced HC body shot damage (crit damage stays the same)
Actual hot take in this stasis dominated pvp meta: Too many D2 players are conflating movement spam with high skill.
Icarus dash isn’t hard to use. Stompees aren’t hard to use.
Using them does give a distinct advantage since those movement abilities aren’t universal.
As if we haven’t had HCs be meta in some form or another for basically 90% of destiny being a game.
Shit, they’re still meta in competitive game modes, even with 600 ARs in their current state.
If Comp and IB get reworks that are anywhere close to the scale of what Trials got PvP is gonna be in the best place it’s ever been and it won’t even be close
This week at Bungie, we’re talking about some upcoming material changes, diving deep into some player-submitted questions with our Weapons Team, and addressing some misinformation floating around regarding recent account bans.
Man… every build I used on titans before this patch has just been eviscerated.
1. Heart of Inmost Light + Fusion Grenades - Useless
2. Doom Fang Pauldron + Shield Bash - Awful
3. Seismic Strike + Insurmountable Skullfort - Garbage
4. Severance Enclosure + any charge melee - 💩
Take a quick peek at some details/short explanations of the mid-season weapons tuning.
Auto rifle and trace rifle buffs, smg tuning, rangefinder nerf, sniper flinch, it’s all here.
And yes, we will be reducing aim assist on special ammo Linear Fusions Rifles in Season 19.
Felwinters:
1. Kills in 9m or less instantly with a single shot
2. Able to be drawn or stowed instantly
3. Can be run with another exotic (DMT or Coil)
4. Can be fired immediately after double jumping
Totally fine to sweats. 100% skill. This is great.
Fully disabling stasis in PvP is like cracking a walnut with a cruise missile.
1. Nothing freezes in PvP anymore except supers.
2. Max Guardian freeze time is 1.25s.
3. Slow no longer suppress movement abilities or aiming for Guardians.
4. Slow stacks cap at 95 on Guardians.
Y’all truly would not the believe the amount of work that’s gone into making TFS as incredible as it can be. Even though it feels like we’ve been working on it forever, I’m still mind blown when I see stuff like this. I cannot wait for everyone else to get their hands on it.
Finally convinced my brother and a buddy to hop into Destiny 2. Started a new character so I could play through with them and man…The new player intro really, really needs some work. It is not a great experience.
You know what I really enjoy as a solo Trials player?
Losing 6 matches in a row, cumulatively winning 3 rounds out of 30, then checking DTR and seeing that my team was heavily predicted to lose every game, and in 4 of them we had a 1% or less chance of winning.
Fun stuff guys.
I wish more people had a better understanding of where they fit into the communities of the media they consume. Thinking they speak for everyone or that everyone has a similar viewpoint to theirs is one of the most common traps I see people falling into when giving feedback.
1. See bad take on Twitter
2. Make meme about it that will make anime pfps angry
3. Wait until one of then inevitably replies with a screenshot of my stats from some activity
4. MegaBlock that reply so it blocks everyone who likes it
5. Watch the sun rise over a grateful timeline
✅ AE changes for primary weapons (raising base accuracy by 20% or more + increasing how much each point of AE increases your aim assist)
✅ Buffing some under performing archetypes (including 180 HCs)
✅ Nerfing some over performing exotics in PvP (TLW + Lorentz Driver)
❖ Increased flinch and settle time after receiving damage in PvP.
❖ Reduced flinch settle time in PvE.
❖ Reduced the aim assist cone size (special ammo only)
Stay tuned for patch notes expected next Tuesday before release.
It’s also a bittersweet day, however.
Shifting to Bungie full time means this is also the last day we’ll release an episode of
@DestinyMBP
with me as a host. I founded the show 7 years ago and I never would have guessed it would eventually become what it is today.
Is there anything even somewhat decently effective in PvP that Trials players actually enjoy playing against? Not snipers, not LFRs, not fusions, not grenade launchers, not pulse rifles, scout rifles, or auto rifles. No invis hunters, no rift warlocks, not barricade titans…
Wish I could be excited but I’m now on my third Elite 2 controller in less than a year. The controller feels amazing when they work, but the bumpers fail so quickly, and my newest one is starting to have issues with the left stick despite being less than a month old 🙄
Players who have never been Flawless: “This is a great change I can’t wait to go Flawless”
After going Flawless: “That was fun let’s do it again!”
Loading into the Flawless MM Pool:
“Bastion is a huge problem in PvP!” They cry out while clutching their Felwinters close to their heart.
“No, don’t pay attention to the single shotgun that accounts for 20% of all weapon kills! Nerf the fusion that’s getting 1/10th the use!”
Some of y’all really out here showing your whole ass with these hot takes today.
Disappointing behavior, and it is seen. If you want to be taken seriously act like an adult, not an asshole.
A balanced PvP sandbox is a lot like Rock Paper Scissors. And, generally, the best way to play is just to use Rock all the time, because paper is cheesy and boring to play, and only dads use paper. Plus, if you complain about paper enough, there’s a chance the devs with nerf it.
People want prestige? Make a card that opens up once you get flawless, and running it only matches you versus other players that have also gone Flawless. Every match has the same post-game rewards that current post flawless matches do. Put exclusive ornaments/emblems behind it.

When I met a man who showed up @ Guardian Con with a custom-printed & laminated binder with weapon stats under his arm. I knew it was only a matter of time. Love ya man, gg 💙
Holy shit, they did it. The mad men actually did it!!! I have nothing but high hopes for the future of the franchise, and I can't wait to see what happens next!
