AI may help teachers, but does it work for students? This op-ed from @Meghan_McCorm and @The74 explores what we know about the impact of AI on education and what more we need to learn to make sure it’s helping students most in need: https://t.co/r5ULwWId55

The best part of my new job has been learning A LOT about the K-12 landscape, esp the role that edtech is playing. The lack of rigorous evidence on most of these products - particularly leveraging genAI - led me to write a new piece in @The74.

Too many preschool programs use curricula that under-deliver for kids and teachers. We can do better. New National Academies report lays out a vision for turning the page & shifting to evidence-based, content-rich, culturally responsive curricula: https://t.co/m9xAKL4mSK

Since transitioning to a foundation I’m now on the other side of figuring out how precious resources should be invested. My latest in @NewAmericaEd highlighting what we DO know works to strengthen PreK - evidence-based curricula and aligned PD.

YES!!!! You should always expect a high level of failure and then make bigger bets/investments in what works.

Educational innovation: is 26% (for I3) a low success rate? I actually don't think so. It might be disappointing, but given what we know in other fields, we should expect most innovations to fail. But really important to know which do and do not work! https://t.co/38mKUkRKrC

Doing some landscaping on folks who have evaluated middle school STEM programs (that may or may not happen in the classroom). Potentially looking for an eval partner to fund - any ideas twitterverse?

My first foray into understanding the evidence base for ed programs funded by Overdeck Foundation. A lot more causal research is needed to validate tutoring, teacher prep. OST, STEM, and early childhood models but the programs are committed to this work.
