A YEAR ago I wanted to learn #d3js and @neo4j. I was overwhelmed, thought it IMPOSSIBLE, but kept with it. With help from @DataVizSociety and @observablehq things started to click. I CREATED MY FIRST SCROLLYTELLING PIECE - let me know what you think!!

One of the best blog posts I’ve read EVER. It’s so refreshing to hear how your heroes are human and have to learn too! I get a lot of questions about a JS roadmap and Garrick’s approach here: get inspired, build a thing, learn more, then build it better is SO relatable ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

To do this I leveraged the crap out of adding custom content to listings and then writing my own ejs files, but I'd love to learn more about making my own template from scratch that takes on whatever YAML I want, not just the content field is that a thing? Paging @thomas_mock.

Update: Creating a custom theme/layout for blog posts, projects, and a dataviz portfolio page for #quarto does NOT take a day ☠️ but I am heavily documenting how I make custom templates for when it’s ready!!

Write a blogpost that will take maybe 20 minutes, orrrr refactor my entire website using #quarto and designing a custom layout which will take probably all day. 😈.
