Reminds me of some of the barbed, looped stitches I've seen for vaginal cuff closure in robotic hysterectomies, very clever!.
Trick to save time when closing: Loop knot is made at the end of the suture. Here we’re closing an atriotomy via a minimally invasive incision. Needle is passed thro the tissue and then thro the loop to avoid the need for tying a knot at the end. Useful when every second counts

Wow. I remember learning the size of a pericardial effusion does not predict its ability to cause tamponade. It's easy to see why! Any wisdom regarding whether the old saying chronic hemopericardium won't clot because the clotting factors are consumed? #MedTwitter.
