Today is the feast of the translation of the relics of Saint Benedict. It’s time for me to start passing on what was handed on to me. We are hosting a Gregorian chant workshop here in Nashville with the choirmaster of Clear Creek. I’m the point man for your questions.

By ancient MSS we’re talking 900. The feast is not in the Verona Sacramentary from the beginning of the 8th century, nor are the collects in the Gelasian Sacramentary ca 750. They are in versions of the Gregorian however.

The collect found alongside the collect Famulorum in ancient MSS (the former is in the OP rite; the Roman uses the latter) gets almost Greek. And the feast came to Rome relatively late (closer to 700 than 600) so the feast had had time to develop already in the East

@CLMCLatinMass I think I basically have one rule right now: if a community is losing all/most of its sites or being removed from parishes due to TC, unconditional support to the community. Because the bishop SURELY has better things to do but chose to do this instead.

You are indeed being stupid to say that the @CLMCLatinMass got what it deserves for asking for its own chapel. When clearly it didn’t mean a church unfit for purpose out in the boonies

Who the hell are you to speak to me this way. It’s funny. If you don’t know me in real life then you don’t get to complain about my emotional regulation

They are paying for it because they pay for part of the premium, and we won’t/can’t do that. This is so fundamentally obvious that it’s been repeatedly upheld. The lawsuits need to end once and for all.

Just a quick reminder that the religious exemption here is nonsensical. Employers weren't required to provide contraception. They had to provide insurance that can be used to buy contraception as comp. They're also required to provide money that can be used to buy contraception.

…and the Protestants did not want catechism in schools so we had to build the parochial system. It’s all a mess in other words. Maybe not ferociously anti-Catholic like England but not exactly warm and fuzzy either.

…they were correct and Bliemel was sent to Ohio before eventually finding his way to a Tennessee infantry regiment where he was killed giving absolution (or anointing, it’s unclear). Anyway it is a recurring theme that any problems were exacerbates by Catholiciam….

The *early* US maybe. But it’s a big issue after the Irish famine and then 1848, with the Germans. Fr Bliemel in Nashville was extremely pro-Confederate, and the rest of the Union command viewed his relationship with the Catholic commander suspiciously….

One of the more bizarre contemporary revisionist misconceptions about U.S. history is the concept that the United States was particularly anti Irish or Catholic. The first captain of the Continental Navy and the Father of the American Navy was a Catholic Irishman.

Please. Bc AK needs an income tax rather than raiding the permanent fund, a proposal which is massively popular.

Peltola is probably the only Dem who could possibly win this seat, but she'd have a much, much better shot at governor. Her winning would actually give Democrats a weird, kinda trifecta in the state, since they control the AK House and Senate in coalition with moderate Repubs.

This is just the reality. Lots of buildings that could have elevators don’t.

Also we have trade offs. You have more stairs bc elevators are big and expensive. All because one fire marshal in AZ didn’t like that the stretcher didn’t lie flat….

@MatthewJRoth Please go move a 300lb man down two flights of stairs in a stretcher while you need to BVM and stop and start chest compressions before you open your stupid fucking mouth.

It’s obviously the case as a modicum of research shows (the 4th and 5th guy are often useless on most of these med calls) but this is just a mute

The thing is that this just comes with tradeoffs. American elevators are all stretcher friendly. So we just don’t put in elevators. Meanwhile SFHs in Switzerland have them.

@MatthewJRoth No, its not. Do you know how many homes/structures/etc are not stretcher friendly? You can't really fit more than 3 medics in an ambulance.

Explain how a Massachusetts town with 6k permanent residents managed to get a new station, all new trucks in the last ten years. But go off.

@MatthewJRoth @robstersauce @eugyppius1 Have you ever worked for a fire department? Especially in the last two decades? You don’t seem to understand how any of this works. You do know, unless it’s a large urban area, we have to write for grants to get new equipment, right? Penny money only comes around once or twice.

The thing is that codes depts/city councils are receptive to what fire chiefs either say or what they (don’t) do. If a chief wants an ambulance and not an oversized aerial for a town with only 2 story buildings, well guess what’s getting bought….

@MatthewJRoth @robstersauce @eugyppius1 lol, no. Fire is considered a necessary public service by law, EMS is not considered such in many states. Fire will exist no matter what unless that changes. It’s not like the departments are self-dispatching to these calls, they’re being assigned to them per county/city.

Another argument for Euro trucks even for wild land firefighters.

@eugyppius1 An odd experience w/ this was when this happened to a guy on a hiking trail & the giant fire truck couldn’t make a turn due to a tree so the firefighters started cutting down the tree. The smaller ambulance later came & made the turn just fine & the fire fighters kept chopping.
