Welp, not sure who's still reading this site, but Alexandra Lozano has settled her lawsuit against the Menezes law firm. so I guess we'll never know whether Menezes really stole Lozano's "AI declaration-generating program" for VAWA cases.

U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

Immigration attorneys - how long has your oldest appeal been sitting at the Board? I keep a running spreadsheet. My oldest appeal was filed almost 6 years ago and briefed about 4 years ago. Almost none of the appeals I briefed in 2021 have been decided.

So now we wait 3 years for the board to DO SOMETHING. I asked them to publish a decision about IJ misconduct and DHS misconduct. I asked them to please examine what a crazy, messed up way to conduct the immigration courts this is. So now they wanna take the case off the docket.

The brief that I filed 3 years ago is good. Do you think the DHS filed a brief? Even though I'm accusing them of intentionally filing evidence they knew to be false about the war criminal stuff? No. They didn't file a brief. No response at all.

Several motions that I filed were lost. Then the judge denied adjustment again. Her reasoning was that since my client was a rural South African police officer in the 1980s, he surely must of harmed someone. I'm still absolutely shocked by the decision.

The judge then sat on the case for a year, and then she denied adjustment of status but didn't send us the decision for several months - too late to appeal. The ACIJ had to reopen the case. Then another year passed.

This is a case where at trial the government submitted surprise evidence accusing my client of being a South African war criminal - even though that guy was actually sitting in South Africa facing trial for his war crimes at the very same time.

Normal stuff going on at the BIA. In one of the most outrageous adjustment of status appeals I've ever seen, (also I filed my brief 3 years ago and now am just waiting on a decision), the Board today says they want to take the case off the docket for the following reasons .

An odd order in the Keeping Families Together lawsuiit in E.D. Texas. The thing he's inviting the parties to brief suggests that he may want to rule that parole is limited to entries to the United States and I guess perhaps to say that, therefore, parole in place isn't allowed.

This was apparently prepared just for the interpreters in Memphis, but then the ACIJ sent it around to the IJs and everyone else, all staff, at the Memphis and Louisville courts.

Another problem is that this sort of lengthy secret dossier with factual history and recitation about events in El Salvador never becomes a part of the record. You don't get to know that your judge is relying on it. Matter of S-M-J- says that's unlawful.

This is way more than a terminology guide. It contains lengthy historical analysis about recent events in El Salvador. In several ways it's pretty problematic. For one, this "anatomy of a salvadoran" drawing is gross (maybe I'm missing some context, but I don't see any).

FOIA Tuesday - Just received this "El Salvador Terminology" guide that wasprepared by the Memphis Immigration Court in 2021 and sent to all IJ's by ACIJ in Memphis in Oct. 2021. Found it in emails I had requested about something else entirely.
