Former LibDem MP for Ludlow & GE candidate for South Shropshire 2024 Published/promoted by Liberal Democrats, The Groton, Norbury, Shropshire, SY9 5DX
Shropshire, England
Joined September 2013
Close, but not close enough! With hard work by so many, & the enthusiastic support of so many local residents in #SouthShropshire, we created a fantastic 22.4% swing from Conservative to LibDem. I'm proud of that, & everyone involved, including those voting for me, should be too.

Spot on from @EdwardJDavey, and if this means boots on the ground in Ukraine, and aircraft in the skies over #Ukraine, we, and other willing countries, need to be prepared to do that.
If Trump sells out Ukraine, Britain must lead a coalition of the willing to defend our continent without him.

Most young voters are attracted to parties, like @LibDems, who offer a positive future. Most young voters are turned off by parties, like the #Conservatives and #Reform, that bang on about returning to a mythical past.
Liberal Democrats are leading with young voters. People who are disappointed and frustrated with Labour are switching to back the Lib Dems.

Views of, & from Pontesford / Earls Hill on Sunday. First time out #walking since I damaged my left knee while delivering leaflets on May 1st, local election polling day. It’s not fully recovered, but I’m at stage that I feel I can start going up a few hills again. #Shropshire

The outer bailey and its fine towers are early 14th century. With few later works, and with only limited damage in the Civil Wars in the 1640s, #Pickering #Castle is well worth a visit.

Some more from my brief visit to Pickering #Castle in #Yorkshire, on Wednesday. #Pickering is a fine example of a motte and bailey castle, but with two baileys, all of which are later walled in stone. The shell keep on the motte and the inner bailey are early 13th century work.

Pickering #Castle, #Yorkshire: Rosamund’s Tower dating from about 1323, taken from the window of the chapel which was probably constructed in 1227. Picture taken yesterday on a flying visit between work site visits. #Pickering

Excellent from @EdwardJDavey: ‘The way to see off the populist right isn’t to cower in its shadow; it’s to step up and offer a compelling, positive alternative.’.The alternative to a ReformUK-Conservative coalition of chaos, is a rapid reengagement with EU, boosting the economy.
Brexit isn’t working, and the British people know it. They're fed up with the damage caused by the deal forced on us by Conservative party. Keir Starmer must show some courage and set Britain on a clear path to a new customs union with the EU by 2030.

A late morning toddle across Shrewsbury’s Old River Bed SSSI today. Classed as ‘fen wetland’, it’s a rare habitat in our region. Recently beavers have been reintroduced to this area. The fencing is to keep the beavers in. No #beavers were spotted today. #Shrewsbury #Shropshire
