Back from #Mongolia where I received a very warm welcome from the President and Prime Minister and many other friends of the @EBRD. The country has a vibrant private sector and we discussed ways of investing more in renewable energy, energy security and sustainable mining.

My first day at #WEF24 began with an important event devoted to support for #Ukraine with @ZelenskyyUa and @vonderleyen and many of its strongest supporters. It is morally right to back Ukraine and the costs of not supporting it will far outweigh those of continuing to do so.

An opportunity to congratulate @DorinRecean in person - and the whole of Moldova - on the decision by @EU_Commission to open EU membership negotiations! @EBRD will continue to support the country's economic development and reforms.

Ukraine has many, many friends here at #WEF24. I do hope Ukrainian visitors to Davos feel that. Today I sat down with another of those friends @SpecRepUkraine from a country, the USA, which has been a strong backer of @EBRD's efforts to support Ukraine's real economy.
