Crazy NFL fact:
If the Kansas City Chiefs win their Divisional game, they will become the first team in history to host three straight AFC Championship Games.
The only team to do it in the NFC? The 2002-04 Philadelphia Eagles.
Both teams coached by ... Andy Reid.
The first-ever Monday Night Football flex: the NFL is flexing Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce off of Monday Night Football in Week 15, replacing the Dec. 18 Chiefs at Patriots game with Eagles at Seahawks.
Eagles now will have three consecutive standalone games from Weeks…
The Mahomes-Allen argument is weird.
Mahomes is a SB champ w/ 2 SB appearances, SB MVP, NFL MVP, 4x Pro Bowler, 2x All-Pro. He's thrown for 20,389 yards w/ 166 TDs and 39 INTs (68 starts).
Allen is a 1x All-Pro, 1x Pro Bowler w/ 15,765 yards with 117 TDs and 50 INTs (65 starts)
Man, the Chiefs are going to be EVERYWHERE this offseason. Commercials, shows, you name it.
They’re the NFL’s version of the Jordan Bulls. Iconic and led by a living legend.
As for people who hate them, if you thought they were insufferable before…
Spags has four Super Bowl rings. No other assistant has ever done that.
He’s also beaten four No. 1 seeds in the Super Bowl, including the unbeaten Pats.
That’s HOF stuff
The Browns traded a former No. 1 overall pick who has their only playoff win since 1994 for a conditional 5th while eating salary ...
While also paying $230M guaranteed to a player who might not play this year and is still facing four civil suits.
Just brilliant strategy.
Last year, Derek Carr led the Raiders through impossible circumstances, guiding them to the playoffs while throwing for nearly 5,000 yards.
Now, he's being painted as the problem by a head coach who has been the real problem all year long.
Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo is now the first offensive or defensive coordinator in NFL history to win four Super Bowls.
One of the best big game coaches of all time 🫡
And quickly, Chiefs' fans should take a moment and appreciate what they had in Tyrann Mathieu.
Showed up to a team needing a total defensive overhaul, and was a captain all three years. Two Super Bowl appearances and a title.
Perhaps the best Chiefs' FA signing of all time.
Patrick Mahomes is now going to his fourth Super Bowl in five years. Only Tom Brady has ever done that.
Mahomes is 28 years old and looking for his third Super Bowl title two weeks from now
An idea:
Police officers should need a four-year degree in criminal justice. There should be mandatory courses in deescalation, mental health, coping, etc.
This isn't only for public safety, it's to help the officers. It's also to weed out kids who are mad and want authority.
The Chiefs averaged 6.4 yards per play last night. All season, the Eagles allowed a league-best 4.8 yards per play.
For context, the worst defense by YPP this year? The Lions, who allowed 6.2.
Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid basically turned the NFL's best defense into the worst.
This could be said about many players, but L’Jarius Sneed not making the Pro Bowl is an embarrassment.
He’s literally been the best corner in football this year
I can’t remember the last time I saw a crowd influence a game as much as Chiefs fans at Arrowhead did last night.
The officials looked (and sounded) terrified after that horrific call on Jones, and the noise created huge momentum
The Chiefs had never hosted an AFC Championship Game before Patrick Mahomes took over.
Since Mahomes became the starter?
Five AFC title games at home in five seasons.
Mike Tomlin should be put into the Hall of Fame without a waiting period. How the Steelers are 8-8 and legitimately in the playoff race is unbelievable
This is the Mahomes legacy game.
Down 10, in a ton of pain, against a terrific team, and the Chiefs score 24 points on four second-half drives to win the Super Bowl
IMO, Patrick Mahomes should be the MVP favorite after today. He was utterly brilliant.
Only five incompletions on 41 attempts, no turnovers and 3 TDs. Without a flawless showing, the Chiefs sustain a horrific loss
The Chiefs have shattered Patrick Mahomes. This offense is an embarrassment to the sport.
KC has serious soul-searching to do after it quickly gets bounced from the playoffs
The Raiders drove a damn bus around Arrowhead two years ago after winning there. Last year, they stomped on the logo before the game. Spare me.
Also, don't want to get clowned? Stop them. It's pro sports.
Random thought, but worth noting:
Tyrann Mathieu is arguably the best free-agent signing in Chiefs history. Three years, two 1st-Team All-Pros, three Pro Bowls, two Super Bowl appearances and a SB title.
Played a huge role in all of it.
The Deshaun Watson story is one of the biggest I can remember in the sport, and it's very bizarre that some of the biggest NFL media arms aren't covering it in any way.
I understand legal topics are touchy, but to just completely avoid it is mind-boggling.
The Chiefs should sign Josh Rosen, let Andy Reid fix him in two hours, and then showcase him in some meaningless Week 17 game before flipping him for a second-round pick.
Last night was the greatest game we've ever seen in terms of quarterback play.
Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes were perfect. No INTs, no open receivers missed, no would-be INTs. Nothing but haymakers, throws into tight spots, running for additional yardage, and epic comebacks.
The Eagles are a great lesson. You better win when you have the chance.
It may seem like you're loaded and will compete annually. Very, very few actually do.
From 1970-2017, the Chiefs had four playoff wins.
Patrick Mahomes has seven including a Super Bowl victory and two SB appearances.
Few players have ever altered their franchise so completely, so quickly
I love weather games in the NFL.
Buffalo is hosting Cleveland this weekend and the forecast is calling for 2-3 FEET of snow with 20-30 MPH wind. That should be an outrageous watch.
Digging into the Chiefs' situation, I think it's basically the following:
Either you pay Tyreek Hill over three guaranteed years into his 30s, or you walk away with $75M in cap space and five draft picks.
It's a risk, but looking through that lens, the trade makes sense
I don't get the national disrespect for Buffalo. The Bills have lost on a Hail Mary, on the road against Tennessee, and to the Chiefs. They've beaten the Seahawks and Rams.
They have a Pro Bowl QB, WR and CB. They're legit. The Bills belong in the contender conversation
Mahomes is also 3-1 against Allen all-time, and 2-0 in the postseason.
Allen is a phenomenal quarterback with a HOF ceiling, but he hasn't been Mahomes in any single season. Literally.
Mahomes has thrown for more yardage, more touchdowns and fewer INTs every year.
Patrick Mahomes has won 8 playoff games in his career.
Every other AFC starting QB in these playoffs has won 7 postseason games ... combined.
Take Tom Brady out, and Mahomes has only won one less playoff game than the entire bracket.
He's 27 years old.
Mahomes and the offense couldn't do anything for the entire second half and then made one huge play to finish it off.
But give props to the defense. The Chiefs won that game because they were dominant all afternoon, forcing three turnovers including two in the end zone.
So many people are clowns. Brittany is engaged to Mahomes and the mother of his child. They've been together since they were teenagers.
She's not allowed to be happy when the Chiefs win an unbelievable game? I highly doubt a single KC fan who got some champagne was complaining
The Chiefs now have Patrick Mahomes, Mecole Hardman, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and Clyde Edwards-Helaire under contract together for the next three seasons.
Good luck stopping that offense.
No accountability for giving up 17 first-half points, or Baltimore taking five personal fouls?
Unfortunate.
And this isn’t just Oweh. It’s sports culture in 2024. Whining. Blaming the officials. Rarely acknowledging a loss.
@tedcruz
You're a waste of space. Families don't need your hollow prayers. They need gun control.
But you need campaign money from the NRA, so you'll do nothing but give a useless tweet and then flee to Cancun.
Tyreek Hill had 1,239 yards on 7.8 yards/target last year.
This season, JuJu Smith-Schuster is averaging 10.3 Y/T (on pace for 1,200 yards). MVS is at 9.7. Travis Kelce's Y/T has jumped from 8.4 to 9.2.
Also, Patrick Mahomes is on pace for 5,243 yards & 49 TDs
Efficiency.
The Chargers, playing for absolutely nothing, are putting all their starters out there and now have had Joey Bosa and Mike Williams leave injured (extent remains unknown).
Just indefensible nonsense.
Patrick Mahomes leads the NFL with 3,265 passing yards, more than 300 better than second place.
He's also thrown 28 touchdowns. Nobody else has 23.
Mahomes is also on pace to break the single-season passing yardage record as well, trending towards 5,550.
Decent year.
The Raiders just saw their faint playoff hopes die because they let the Rams, with no timeouts, and a quarterback who showed up yesterday, drive 98 yards.
That's the Raiders for ya.
No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game - but how? This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome ... which suddenly seems so irrelevant.
The Chiefs OL as we sit here today:
LT: Jawaan Taylor
LG: Joe Thuney
C: Creed Humphrey
RG: Trey Smith
RT: ?
If Kansas City finds a good right tackle, Mahomes might never get hit
Per source, the Arizona Cardinals and former All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson are parting ways barring a significant change in stances.
Peterson, 30, has enjoyed eight Pro Bowl and three First-Team All-Pro campaigns since being selected No. 5 overall in the 2011 Draft.
