I had an important engagement this afternoon and evening that required me to miss the second half, but I did pick up a Buffalo phone book on the way home and I will be asking the first person I call for the final score. Gonna be a miserable Monday in Buffalo! (Isn’t every day?)

As I said a week ago, you’ll all overreact to free agency. The Sox don’t spend. Why expect them to? It sucks and we all know it. Their offseason will be determined by the trade market. There is no excuse not to unload the farm system for significant major league talent.

The outfield report is problematic. As I see it, the Sox are likely overvaluing their outfielders. They need to lower their asking price. Duran is a platoon player who is also a defensive liability. He is not a 7-win player. Abreu is injury-prone and a platoon player, too.
Two things I believe today that register as minor surprises: 1) Refsnyder's return seems less likely than ever based on how they're operating and talking up Eaton and 2) I think it's far from a guarantee they trade an outfielder.
