Why does President Trump want Americans to go hungry?
USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse. I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

It's true that some parts of the federal government are legally shut down. But SNAP - food assistance for low income Americans - is not. Congress has appropriated more than $5 billion which President Trump is impounding and refusing to spend starting Halloween night.
