Very honoured to have received the best presentation award at #NIME2024! This was for our paper "A Self-Sensing Actuator for Tactile Interaction with Physical Modelling Synthesis" written with @InstrumentsLab, Craig Webb & Michele Ducceschi.

I had a great time at @Eurohaptics2024 this week, presenting my work in progress paper on a self-sensing vibrotactile transducer and a haptic snare drum demo of the technology. Great to meet so many knowledgeable people and experience lots of other fantastic demos!

Final tweaks ahead of my demo at @Eurohaptics2024 tomorrow afternoon. In this instance I'm using @ChairAudio's excellent EXC!TE snare drum plugin. A single voice coil transducer is used for exciting the model, force sensing, and vibrotactile feedback simultaneously.

For anyone heading to the conference interested in finding out more, I'll be demoing the setup 11:30-14:30 on Monday (come and experience some haptic feedback percussion), and presenting my WIP poster 17:00-18:45 the same evening.

Great news this week for everyone with Type 1 Diabetes in the UK. In the 6 months I've had my HCL system from the NHS it's made an incredible difference to both quality of life and blood glucose control. Very thankful for the wonderful NHS & all involved in this.
