Mangroves are also way better than your average tree at carbon sequestration. Let's give all mangroves some kind of protected status.

Magnapinna is an Eldritch DELIGHT, and these ethereal phantoms from the deep have my vote. Fun fact: Magnapinna squids are sometimes called Bigfin squids, and Magnapinna is Latin for "Bigfin."
The final 4 #Squidtember #BestSquid continues! Who is your pick? Beloved eldritch horror, Magnapinna, the extremely long legged, deepest-living squid with a heart of gold. OR The ultimate-revenge-squid, Grimalditeuthis, that lures prey in with a squid puppet! VOTE!

Now, there are a lot of assumptions behind the Econ 101 models, and looking at where and how real situations diverge from those assumptions can often point to market failures and suggest policy remedies. But this stuff isn't always straightforward (and then there's politics...).

This means for stuff like transportation, healthcare, food, clothing, and housing, people tend to get hit hard. But it's also why luxury taxes are hard to implement. Taxes on stuff rich people buy can hurt the employees at the shiny toy factory more than the shiny toy buyers.

This was a bad Econ 101 class. In a competitive market, who gets the brunt of the taxes depends on the elasticities of supply and demand. This means for stuff people need the most, consumers get hit hardest. For frivolous stuff, producers usually get hit harder by a tax.

This whole interaction is hilarious but I can't think of a more surefire way to lose an argument than coming at @theoctopuslady over an animal she spent two months making an educational video about.
Fraud?? FRAUD??? How dare you! And yes, sure, OK, vampire squid don't have tentacles, but they have filaments! That's close enough!!

Civic Mapping Initiative @leagueofcities Program Director, @mattcrespi's freedom dream involves no longer being dependent on the ability to afford or drive a personal vehicle. #BestOfEquityChat @DrPamLuster @DrTammeil @Iamkeithcurry @CollegeFutures (1/2) https://t.co/XVBV1sy5PG
@DrTammeil @ecbakersmith @DrPamLuster @Iamkeithcurry @CollegeFutures (1/n) I want a future where participation in all the core functions of society & citizenship–voting, grocery shopping, working, socializing, getting an education and more–is in no way dependent on one’s ability to afford and drive a personal vehicle. #EquityChat

This is true, and part of the problem is that impressing the inner circle is the only thing that gets you hired, retained, and promoted.

As a 1500 blitz player, I can assure you that making tactical mistakes is most of what I do.
Even 1500 blitz players make basic tactical mistake. 👀 Black’s best continuation? 🤔 #chesspunks PS. My next puzzle will be more difficult, but good to have easier ones at times.

NEW: Billionaire Elon Musk has created a PAC collecting voter data from those living in key states through an online "register to vote" form that does not directly register people to vote. All of this in an effort to help Donald Trump become president. https://t.co/1NlzNXPAGG

@schwartzbCNBC So instead of donating $45M a month to Trump, Elon is now using his PAC to deceive voters into giving up all their info and a recent FEC opinion allows America PAC to coordinate its canvassing activities with the Trump campaign — meaning, among other things, that the Trump

Is this legal? Musk’s “America PAC” is running ads telling people it will help them register to vote. But if they live in a swing state, it collects their address, cell phone number, and age, and then tells them thank you. It never registers them; only harvests their data.
