The phrase “Ladies & Gentlemen” was introduced as a progressive move to be more inclusive of women. Now it’s being abolished on airlines as not inclusive enough. What next? A rewriting of Ireland’s foundational document starting: “Irishmen & Irishwomen...”?

Very sad for Irish hospitality and Irish social (and economic) life that new restrictions are being imposed in Ireland. Is it really necessary?

Frank Coughlan in the Irish Indo and Fintan O’Toole in the Irish Times have strong, eloquent commentaries today about “Up the ‘Ra”. These need publishing in America, the source of Provo wealth, and now immense Sinn Fein riches.

Why can't Ireland take credit for itself? Why does the Irish government have to emphasise it was the EU which brought about any development? It's a kind of "white saviour complex" - oh look, we were awful left to ourselves, but Brussels rescued us!

A shocking letter from a GP, Dr Marcus de Brun, in today's Irish Independent: Irish doctors are being paid more to facilitate abortion than to provide contraception or attend to a patient giving birth. Maternal care less valued than abortion in Ireland now.

I have always seen the benefits of immigration: but there are costs & challenges too. People must be able to discuss this without being called “fascists” or “far Right”. Populists arise when liberals shrink from honest discourse. My Irish Independent column.

On Holocaust Memorial day, may I honour the memory of the Irish songstress Delia Murphy, who hid Jewish refugees at the Irish Embassy in Rome - and told the political authorities to 'feck off' when they reprimanded her.

I agree that kids shouldn’t be forced into ‘gender stereotypes’ - that ‘blue for a boy, pink for a girl’ silly stuff. But that’s no reason to erase words like ‘mother’ from the official language.Nature usually prevails! My column in the Irish Independent.

Anyone voting in next month’s Irish Referendum on marriage and ‘durable relationships’ MUST read Sarah Carey’s magisterial piece in today’s Irish Independent (3.02) The definition of ‘durable’ is dodgy, a threat both to contractual stability - and liberty.
