@LondonWelshRFC official club anorak. Chin-stroking muso and real ale bore.
Joined September 2018
Fantastic evening at the @LondonWelshRFC end of season awards. Honoured to be awarded Gold Membership and be made a vice-president, alongside @simondewibeer & @WuestMarcus, and in doing so emulate my late grandad. Thanks to everyone at the club for these incredible accolades.

Two future @LondonWelshRFC signings on each side (although Martyn Madden never actually played for the club).
2001 @WelshRugbyUnion A v @officialTongaRU at @LlanelliRFC featuring @LeeJarvis10 and the best alliterative rugby name in history. Ben Breeze, top name for a winger. Any other examples @philsteele1 ? I will start with @OrrellRUFC Charles Cusani.

With his 35th and 36th career tries this afternoon, Tom Hunt first equalled and then overtook Elis Staines' record to become the leading try-scorer post-Project Reset.
74 min| Well thank God for that! Huge carry from Andy Black destroys the defence line and the ball finds its way to Hunt who knows his way to the try line! His 2nd. Hodgson converts Hammers 21 Welsh 34 #COYW

@tansleyjames Finally, apologies to all of my new followers, who are going to be disappointed when I return to only posting niche rugby stats from next week 3/3

@tansleyjames But in doing so, I've gone too far the other way, and missed out some really obvious picks, such as Speak to Me Someone & New Amusements. Also, You'll Never Walk Again & London, Can You Wait should be much higher. 2/

Thanks to @tansleyjames for organising the #GeneTop15 - I've really enjoyed contributing and reading other people's submissions. But if I started again tomorrow it'd be a very different list. Drawn to the Deep End is my favourite album ever, so I tried not to include too many 1/

#GeneTop15 1. We Could Be Kings My favourite track on my all-time favourite album. Although I hope that the person responsible for the single edit ends his days very soon in an M3 pile-up. https://t.co/hXoTih352v

#GeneTop15 2. Where Are They Now? The band don't have happy memories of Drawn to the Deep End and its overblown production, but that's what many fans love about it. The songs from it gave us the most euphoric singalong moments at Martin's farewell shows. https://t.co/ZgsJOE5zgk

#GeneTop15 3. Haunted By You The opening track on the debut album, a huge statement of intent. Also the second single off the album, reaching a whopping No.32 in the UK charts. https://t.co/OIxWYbn7DW

#GeneTop15 4. Baby, I'm Sorry Unreleased during their lifetime, it featured on the Leadmill DVD and appeared on the deluxe reissue of Libertine. A tantalising glimpse of what might have been... https://t.co/6jBUgKoD3o

#GeneTop15 5. Sleep Well Tonight Their first Top 40 hit. I heard @musicmattjames play an acoustic version in a record store in Kingston, where the video was filmed, a couple of years ago. https://t.co/UoknBLSvpA

#GeneTop15 6. Let Me Move On Remember Christian O'Connell playing it on XFM, hearing that voice that was unmistakably Martin, being utterly transfixed only to come crashing to Earth when he announced that they were disbanding and this was the final single https://t.co/S1OyS3AmeZ

#GeneTop15 7. Olympian Probably the song most people think of when they think of Gene. That moment at the farewell show when Martin sat on the drum riser, picked up a marker pen, and changed the first E in Gene to an O on the bass drum... 😪 https://t.co/9fN3t11dgI

#GeneTop15 8. London, Can You Wait? Can't help thinking that I've messed up here, and that this should be Top 5 minimum. Oh well, too late to change now. Another one which the band believe probably should have been a single. https://t.co/MSrvWDTwAb
