Sick pay from the first day of illness will also be huge! Ensuring that all over 8 million employees are not going into work with infectious diseases or when they should be at home resting, because they are worried about paying the bills🤒

Fantastic to see this - thanks @RSylvesterTimes and to other commissioners. Day one sick pay such a positive move for workers and employers alike. Sick pay reform finally on the menu - the big question for Government now is will they act to address the very rate SSP is paid at.

A new #employmentrights bill that includes sick pay reform announced in the #KingsSpeech! Fantastic news. Well done to all those who have worked towards this 🙏 The job is not finished. Now is a vital window to press for changes that include a raise to the weekly rate of SSP.

Massive well done to the @Prog_Change team for an amazing #SafeSickPay election campaign. We are going into the new Parliament with 94 MPs signed up to increase the rate of Statutory Sick Pay and 5 of the parties signed up to at least two of our reforms in their manifesto🥰

Great visit to @STN_Airport with @AngelaRayner today to promote businesses who invest in and look after their staff. Workers at Stansted have access to sick pay from day one they’re not well, but that’s not the case for everyone. (1/3)

No-one should be punished for getting ill. "I was already struggling at the time of diagnosis and we had no savings." Tony was diagnosed with leukaemia and as a result had to declare bankruptcy due to sick pay being insufficient to cover his bills. Write to your MP with us and

I was happy to support your campaign for #safesickpay. We need to lift statutory minimums & support the lowest paid. Our social safety net leaves many financially vulnerable. When illness strikes families can be pushed into poverty, slowing their recovery & widening inequality.

There has been a fair bit of comment on rising sick days recently. The evidence shows that the UK's very low statutory sick pay prevents workers from taking breaks to recover and stores up more severe illness and absence. Our Director @amandapwd in today's Financial Times

Great meeting today with @Jeremy_Hunt to discuss #SafeSickPay. Sick pay reform is a key part of ensuring people don't fall out of the workforce. It is good for business, good for the economy and good for working people.
