Proud to announce The Prospector is in this week’s Memoir Monday roundup. Check out editor Sari Botton’s Memoirland Substack. It’s a treasure chest. The Prospector was my first friend and mentor in NYC; also the master urban scavenger

I was never a metalhead but this review of the Ozzy/Randy Rhoads Tribute album was always one of my favorites. “You can’t kill rock & roll”.

Ironically, Vivek is right-wing version of Zohran Mamdani: they’re both sons of wealthy immigrants, charismatic and inspiring speakers who (so far) are short on practical ideas pragmatic solutions. At least Mamdani has served in NY state legislature.

Hey Vivek, fellow Cincinnati native (and St X grad) here, also longtime - longer than you’ve been alive - NYC resident, you have no idea what you’re talking about, skip the cheap shots and please stick to detailing your “vision” for Ohio.

I moved to NYC after I graduated college in 2007 because it was a place that still celebrated success, but that spirit receded in New York & soon could be gone altogether. We’re reviving that American Dream in a new place: Ohio. The revival starts next November.

Way different than when I lived on St Marks & 1st Ave 1985-89, not sure how to describe: more wholesome, almost a college town vibe? Not a bad thing btw.

Bought OTD in 1972: a foundational album for me, along with Teenage Head an exit from West Coast into sharp, angry fast rock. The whole thing is great butthe second side is astonishing: Shakin’ Street, Human Being Lawnmower. Special mention for Looking At You
