In a new study, out now in Attention Perception & Psychophysics, Thomas Cherian (@copy2thomas) and I have some exciting insights into what we see when an object is occluded. Like all good things, the origin of this study was simple curiosity. Consider the picture below: 1/25

A bit late to my own party but super happy to see this out now in @ScienceAdvances 🥳 ( https://t.co/wGBYLBhFpj). We find that preparatory activity during context-guided search reflects a template for attentional guidance and can encode associated objects, not the target itself!

Excited to share our latest work! We found that preparatory neural activity (the “attentional template”) flexibly represents target-associated objects, guiding eye movements toward likely target locations. @MaelleLerebourg @DondersInst @ScienceAdvances https://t.co/KVJcdYaxwT

Interesting results from an inspiring collaboration involving three former lab members, spanning more than a decade: Daniel Kaiser (2012-2016), Surya Gayet (2017-2021), and Lu-Chun Yeh (2021-2023).

New preprint led by @LuChunYeh, with @MariusPeelen & @SuryaGayet: Using EEG, we delineate how neural representations of real-world object size emerge from interactions of the object's retinal size and pictorial distance cues from the scene context. 🐻🧸🛤️ https://t.co/orXC7i8B36

It is essential to science to engage, discuss, critique, and debate. Saying that ideas are wrong, flawed, or can be improved is core to the mission of science to advance human knowledge. If you don't like how these debates play out on this platform, stay tuned for @jocnforum.

We effortlessly recognize distant, blurry objects in everyday life. Does this require attention, or does scene context suffice? Excited to share our new paper exploring this process! https://t.co/2KMD8I3f8P

🥳Our paper is online! We @MariusPeelen @Marco_Gandolfo found our knowledge of bodies influences how we remember body postures 💃🤾‍♀️: 1. Lifted arms were remembered as lower, due to knowledge of gravity. https://t.co/HdNeLzB0QA
