From line drawings to scene perception — our new review argues for moving beyond experimenter-driven manipulations toward participant-driven approaches to reveal what’s in our internal models of the visual world. 👁️✍️🛋 https://t.co/UebbuTGLZd

Despite the complexity of real-world environments, natural vision is seamlessly efficient. To explain this efficiency, researchers often use predictive processing frameworks, in which perceptual...

🧵 Can a purely feedforward network — with no recurrence or lateral connections — capture human-like perceptual organization? 🤯 Yes! Especially for contour integration, and we pinpoint the key inductive biases. New paper in @PLOSCompBiol with @talia_konkle & @grez72! 1/24

This is perhaps the most important paper I've contributed to so far. Also the one with most ups and downs. Years in the making. Several rounds of review in many outlets. But it's out now. Thanks to @AdrienDoerig who really drove that thing home. Enjoy! https://t.co/WpI5lB70uQ

🧠In our latest episode, coauthors @LuChunYeh and @DKaiserlab discuss their Short Report on how cortical alpha rhythms help predict motion when objects are occluded. 🎧 Tune in to learn how our brains fill in the gaps of dynamic perception! https://t.co/7kve9oX16t

🚨 SOTA shape-biased ANNs, that experienced their datasets through the developing eyes of humans (from birth to 25 year olds). There's still hope for cognitive (neuro)science knowledge equipping ANNs with cool new abilities which seem elusive from the pov of ML research.
Exciting new preprint from the lab: “Adopting a human developmental visual diet yields robust, shape-based AI vision”. A most wonderful case where brain inspiration massively improved AI solutions. Work with @lu_zejin @martisamuser and Radoslaw Cichy https://t.co/XVYqQPjoTA
