Can your students explain why the smoky East-coast sky is orange? Back in Sept 2020 when SF skies turned orange, we pivoted to modeling it in freshman physics, using data from @paullric of @ucdavis. Phenomena-based science for relevancy & authentic learning #Iteachphysics #ngss

Using momentum to teach mathematical thinking in physics, why didn’t I never think of that?! In the past I gave them the equation and called substituting in “problem solving.” Know better, do better. #openscied #ITeachPhysics

Weed-out courses exist in #highschool too... what message are we giving 15 yo's when the definition of success in science is so narrow? Our #1 job should be helping students find success. Teachers, if students are dropping out of your class, change what you are doing. @MrAEmmons

Engineering is the most versatile degree you can earn and will open the most doors in your career. The Federal Reserve just backed me up on this. Data show few engineers would choose a different field of study, far fewer than any other degree. https://t.co/7MRvEVspIv
