Yesterday, we honoured the courage of those who stood for freedom on 17 November 1989. Slovakia’s membership in NATO and the EU is a direct continuation of that legacy — our choice to belong to a democratic, secure and open community. Freedom remains our ultimate responsibility.

From NATO HQ to Baku 🇦🇿 — an insightful visit by NATO Ambassadors to Azerbaijan organised by 🇸🇰&🇸🇪. Following the 🇦🇲 visit, talks in Baku were focused on partnership, energy security &connectivity, peace with 🇦🇲, and reaffirmed that dialogue is the bridge to regional stability.

Once united in one state – today united at the same table in NATO and the EU. 🇸🇰🤝🇨🇿 We mark 106 years since the founding of Czechoslovakia – a state that anchored us among modern democracies and whose legacy continues in our shared commitment to freedom and democracy.

During my last trip to 🇸🇰, I met representatives of Slovak defence companies delivering world-class products, contributing to NATO projects, and creating jobs. Therefore, investing in defence also means investing in people, innovation, and regions.

Last week in 🇸🇰 I met students at universities in Košice and Banská Bystrica to discuss Slovakia’s role in NATO. It’s inspiring to see young people so engaged in security, international affairs and the values our membership stands for.
