Thanks to 7NEWS for the opportunity to talk about our research! There's still a lot of questions that need answers about the possible links between early life infections and later health, but it's something we're excited to be investigating.
New research has revealed babies who are prone to the common cold may be more likely to develop heart problems later in life. Joining @mikeamor7 live now is lead researcher Dr Toby Mansell from the @MCRI_for_kids. https://t.co/5zYfOfGqUb

Very excited to have this work out there! This is a really interesting finding and potentially a very important one, and a key question is how persistent these effects are. We've got many steps to go to in understand these processes, but it's exciting to be investigating this!

Thank you so much to @MCRI_for_kids @RCHMelbourne @RCH_Foundation for the fellowship! This award will support my #multiomic research into understanding the effects of childhood exposures, infections, and #inflammation in shaping later risk of cardiovascular and metabolic disease.
π Congrats to the @MCRI_for_kids and @RCHMelbourne early to mid-career #researchers who have been awarded scholarships and fellowships to support their research into #childhood #health conditions. @RCH_Foundation Read more: https://t.co/xU0rBVnga5

First post-doc paper is now out in Pediatric Research! We investigated several pregnancy/birth outcomes in relation to the cord serum NMR metabolome, and found associations across a range of metabolites including cholesterol, fatty acids, and amino acids.

Just published: our manuscript on the genetic and environmental influences on offspring blood methylation of the leptin gene! Infant sex, cis-genetic variation, birth weight, and exposure to preeclampsia all show evidence of associations with methylation.
