This statue reminds us that 55,000 airmen in Bomber Command perished in WW2. Their odds of dying (not being injured or captured; but dying) were about 50/50. They cannot have conceived of a Britain that would, within a generation or two, be so contemptuous of their sacrifices.

Have had a decent trip across to Morecambe 1-1 Chester in the #FACup today. Not too sure how the hosts contrived to not win it, but credit to Chester for staying in it and getting their eventual reward in stoppage time. #groundhopper #groundhopping

Had an enjoyable day out today whilst taking in @RetfordUnited 4-1 @BottesfordTown. The visitors took the lead before the hosts stormed back. The red card late in the first half killed the game as a contest, but the better side won out, regardless. #groundhopper #groundhopping

Got quite the "Cupset" today down at Broadhurst Park, as former "#FACup Proper" rounders @FCUnitedMcr lost out 0-1 to neighbours @ChaddertonFC. A tight game settled by a moment of magic, with a goal from his own half by a Chaddy player. #groundhopper #groundhopping
