Today is a great Monday because my first co-first author paper on my thesis research is out in print! πŸŽ‰ Could not have achieved this milestone without my amazing co-author @IshScience and help from collaborators @IlyaFinkelstein and @Nicolas_Fawzi πŸ™Œ.

The review based on the first chapter of my PhD thesis is finally available online! A happy day indeed when you realize people other than your 4 committee members might read (and enjoy) it πŸ˜„ . Excellent work with @OG_coreyfrazer @Nicolas_Fawzi πŸ‘πŸΌ.

Just watched one of my fellow @BrownUPathoGP friends defend his brilliant thesis, & thinking how my cohort is out here killing the game. We have people going into patent law, vaccine development, microbiome research, consulting, a BME postdoc. So much you can do with a PhD πŸŽ“πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ˜€.

Parting gifts from my PhD advisor today. A lava lamp because if you haven’t compared phase separation to lava lamps, can you even say you study phase separation? And a coronavirus plushie because…*gestures at general state of the world* #PhDone

Amazing work by @Jenna_Wurster and highly worth a read. So proud of her perseverance and literal blood, sweat, and tears that went into this paper! Also, the graphical abstract is a masterpiece in its own right 🀩 #womeninSTEM #phdlife.

I feel attacked. Accepting suggestions for how to politely decline new experiments when you have a thesis to write. #phdlife.

I've waited all week for the final speaker session at #moet2021 and oh boy is it worth it. "The 4D Nucleome": amazing talks, great questions, condensates and "clusters" with beautiful imaging and biochemical experiments. Best Friday afternoon leading into this long weekend 🀩.

Really nice review that summarizes current evidence for and against both "hub" and "condensate" models of transcriptional control. Good to remember, as authors point out, that models have much overlap & can both exist within different enhancer/gene architectures πŸ‘πŸ§¬πŸ”¬.

I set my thesis defense date this week, and following that none of my PCRs/cloning have worked in lab. Obviously, my experiments do not want me to graduate. πŸ˜…πŸ§¬πŸ§«.

Louder for the people in the back. I’m tired of hearing academics tell me that all that matters in grad school is your publication record. There are other measures and benchmarks for success, ESPECIALLY considering most grad students will not continue in academia. #phdchat.

You can publish all you want, academia's still probably not going to work out. Sorry to be a downer about the fun meme.
