Today, we celebrated the completion of building work on our Children's Emergency Unit, with five children from Shaw Ridge Primary School who cut the ribbon on the new development. Thank you to our staff, construction partners and all the young people we worked with!💙

Thank you for the incredible hard work from our amazing workforce right across the Trust and our partners, that meant the Emergency Department could open today.💙 Now we need local people to help us in return, by only coming to hospital if you really need to and using NHS 111.

Yesterday, we held tours of our new Emergency Department to give local people, who have been instrumental in the development of the building, the chance to see it before it opens to the public. We were joined by children from @Shaw_Ridge, local residents, carers and others.💙

I joined colleagues on a talk hosted by Mark today about the hospitals green spaces. He told us that the tree the Trust planted for the late Queens platinum jubilee had grown from an acorn that Mark had pocketed on a trip to Windsor castle around 11 years ago! 🌳💚
Meet Mark, who volunteers his time to maintain our fantastic green spaces around the Great Western Hospital site.💚 Mark is also now working with our hospitality partners, Aramark, to recycle leftover ground coffee as compost on the flower beds.🌷 #GreatBigGreenWeek
