Having completed my tour of duty as Namibia's Ambassador to Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and the EU, I am full of gratitude to the staff of the Namibian Embassy in Brussels. Thank you for the hard work and dedication over the years. Omake!

It's always good to catch up with Geert Muylle, Ambassador and Special Envoy for energy security and critical raw materials at the Belgian Foreign Ministry. We discussed our bilateral relations as well as broader international developments around issues of energy and CRM.

Thoroughly enjoyed meeting @tudelft lecturer Job Schroen & students who travelled 2 Namibia as part of the EXTREME Architecture course, which focuses on design & building in extreme environments, considering limited resources, local materials, local climate, & local cultures.

Mark your calendars On 21 May 2025, foreign ministers from the European Union and African Union will convene to assess progress since the 2022 summit and strengthen cooperation. Their discussions will focus on implementing existing commitments and identifying new opportunities

Last week, I joined a Namibian delegation from the skills, education, & research sectors for a visit to the Yes!Delft Incubator & HyER Power at The Green Village at @tudelft. We are strengthening the collaboration between 🇳🇱 & 🇳🇦 in the area of skills 4 the green H2 industry.

A warm encounter between Hon Matundu and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, and H.E. Selma Malika Haddadi, Deputy Chairperson of the AU Commission, during a side event of the AU-EU Ministerial in Brussels.

Hon Matundu and @StevenCollet, the Deputy Director-General of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, had a positive exchange about our bilateral energy partnership which, inter alia, promotes infrastructure & skills development. @DutchMFA

Hon Matundu was also able to engage @jeanvanwetter, the CEO of @Enabel_Belgium, the Belgian development agency, about our cooperation in the area of green hydrogen and renewable energy. Both sides are determined to maximise the socio-economic benefits of the green transition.

Yesterday, Hon. Jenelly Matundu, Deputy Minister of International Relations & Trade, and Maxime Prévot, Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs & Development Cooperation exchanged views about our growing bilateral partnership & friendship.

The 3rd African Union-European Union Ministerial Meeting is taking place in Brussels today & aims to evaluate & reinvigorate the partnership between the two continents. We will discuss: 1. peace, security & governance; 2. multilateralism, 3. prosperity & 4. migration & mobility.

Yesterday, African Ambassadors engaged Reniette Klever, Minister of Foreign Trade & Development, & officials from the Dutch Foreign Ministry about new policy changes to the Africa Strategy of the Dutch Government. The new priority areas for cooperation are: food, water & health.

Yesterday, we celebrated Namibia's 35th Independence Anniversary in Brussels with friends, colleagues & partners from all over the world. It was a wonderful occasion to take stock of the progress we have made and celebrate our friendship & partnership with Belgium and the EU.

Namibia is making history & embracing gender equality, representation, and inclusive governance. We are now the only African country with a female President & Vice President. The cabinet has 14 Ministers, 8 of whom are women. The speaker of our National Assembly is also a woman.
