1/2 What an honour to witness the historic proclamation of the 1991 Windhoek Declaration on Promoting an Independent and Pluralistic African Press into UNESCO's Memory of the World Register. This landmark document laid the groundwork for media freedom across Africa and beyond.

Stimulating discussions @ UNESCO's World Press Freedom Day in Brussels today. We need to ensure that the transformative potential of AI can support free speech & promote healthy information ecosystems instead of increasing misinformation, surveillance, & digital manipulation.

Namibia is making history & embracing gender equality, representation, and inclusive governance. We are now the only African country with a female President & Vice President. The cabinet has 14 Ministers, 8 of whom are women. The speaker of our National Assembly is also a woman.
