If we wouldn’t do it to #MoFarah, we shouldn’t do it to any trafficking victims. If we wouldn’t do it to Ukrainians, we shouldn’t do it to any refugees. Stop deporting asylum seekers, stop detaining innocents, stop criminalising sea rescue. Human rights are human rights.

In total in 2021, at least 4327 tents and tarps used as shelter were destroyed during illegal evictions of the camps around Dunkirk. That is the reality of our governments' violent policies at the UK-French border

On a regular basis, our volunteers will do a large-scale litter picking operation. We drive through camp shovelling rubbish into the trailer and collecting bin bags. We are often joined by people from the camp who wish to help and who also want to see the site tidier.

It serves their narrative for the world to see displaced people as disrespectful/incapable of keeping their living sites clean In fact, there is just no provision to do so & people are preoccupied with survival & the daily hardship & toll of conditions they are forced to live in

🚮There is no infrastructure in the camp in Dunkirk, and that includes waste management. Litter, accumulated from daily life, evictions +unsuitable donations, is a real issue. No skips or bins are provided by authorities. It is almost as if they use this as a demeaning strategy..

Afghans are now the number one nationality of refugees taking dangerous crossings in small boats in the Channel. 1 in 4 of those crossing in the first 3 months of 2022 were Afghan. During that time the UK offered a safe route to the UK for EIGHT Afghan refugees. Read it again.

Thanks to @onjalirauf and the incredible team at @osrefugeeaid we were well stocked with huge bags of dates, cakes and other treats. It was a wonderful atmosphere throughout the day while people played music, danced and ate in the sun.

This is the best way we've found to tailor distributions to the needs of the community, provide a more personal approach+avoid flooding the camp with unwanted & unsuitable items If you can, please help us insure we can continue to fulfil requests by organising a donation drive👖

On the same day the Nationality and Borders bill passed in the UK, further threatening people's right to asylum. In solidarity & in defiance we continue to oppose every punishing act of State violence that further criminalises and oppresses those seeking refuge

In the early hours the French authorities descended on the camp and carried out a full scale eviction of the living sites. At least 60 tents and shelters were destroyed and stolen We responded throughout the afternoon to provide the community with replacement tents and blankets

#Expulsion à #GrandeSynthe. Au moins 60 tentes et bâches détruites, tout comme les abris construits par les personnes #exilées. L'huissière en charge confirme l'impossibilité pour ces dernières de récupérer leurs tentes.

To all who worked hard to resist the inhumane #NationalityAndBordersBill, incl the passionate & committed peers, passage of this Act is a moment of grief & sadness. For those who will be punished, criminalised & denied protection, it is a moment of anguish. The fightback begins..

This month, we've seen a marked increase in the number of children attending our sessions in Loon-Plage. With no access to a safe space and regular exposure to violence by authorities, children living in the camp are deprived of their fundamental rights:

Earth Day🌏We're thinking about the tonnes of tents+bedding that the French State has sent to landfill here The climate crisis is a human crisis; we stand in solidarity with those, who through failed policies and constant exploitation by the Global North shoulder the brunt of it

Dear @Conservatives @pritipatel, Are these the people you fear so much? The ones whose lands you've helped bomb/resources you take, but who are coming to steal from the UK? Just clarifying. PS. Lovely to know 11 of you have hearts. #bordersbill #Rwanda (No) Love from France
