This work examined adiponectin's role in cardiac autophagy and ischemia-induced dysfunction. In adiponectin-knockout mice, lack of adiponectin worsened cardiac dysfunction post-ischemia by impairing autophagy. Adiponectin enhanced AMPK-mTOR signaling, reducing oxidative stress.
