For almost 200 years, the Texas Army National Guard has played a crucial role in defending freedom overseas and keeping Texans safe at home. On behalf of all Texans, we are grateful for the sacrifices of Texas Army National Guard Members and their families.

While many Texans are expected to experience extreme winter, our @TXMilitary is getting ready to support @TxDPS and other partners. We have personnel and equipment positioned in various locations across the state and are preparing to assist stranded motorists. #TexansServingTexas

It was great being in the field yesterday meeting with our service members on the front lines of #OperationLoneStar. Their hard work and dedication helps keep our state and nation safe by deterring illegal immigration and stemming the flow of illegal drugs and human trafficking.

Texas is the national leader in the fight against human trafficking. This past legislative session, I signed 15 bills into law cracking down on human trafficking. I launched #OperationLoneStar to secure the border & put an end to this modern-day slavery.

While many Guardsmen & Texas Dept. of Public Safety officers will be away from loved ones this Christmas, their efforts to secure the border are invaluable. These heroes risk their lives every day to keep us safe. On behalf of all Texans, thank you for your service & sacrifice.

I was pleased to host Chilean Army Defense Attaché, Maj. Gen. Pedro Varela, and members of the Chilean Joint Staff, in Austin, for the Pre-Annual @USNationalGuard State Partnership Program Planning Meeting. We were able to build a framework for current and future SPP exchanges.
