The game is evolving, and our understanding of injury needs to evolve as well. If our evidence eventually shows assoc btw spin profile and injury, maybe one day we can have this discussion on risk. Until then, pitchers are the only ones effectively using data. We must keep up.
From the sports medicine perspective, we need to study this and educate where needed. not sit back in conjecture. The game is selecting for the velocity and spin profiles, and guys want to compete. It is our responsibility to support their health while they do so.

So many of these recommendations tend to be anti-competitive. Don’t throw, don’t lift, don’t do pitch design just in case.

Plenty discussion on #TommyJohnSurgery at #MLBdraft2022 . We’ve come a long way, but we still have so much work to do regarding treatment, rehab, and prevention. Pitchers are going to continue to push their abilities, and we in sports medicine must do the same.@AOSSM_SportsMed.

Important study by @ChrisCampMD on wearables for throwers. Understanding the relationship between mechanics, stress, performance, and injury is critical while supporting the health of pitchers. However, we need to ensure that we applying new tech properly.
