I was informed today by my surgical colleagues that their boards state that fidaxomicin is better than vancomycin for c diff. Is that a consensus in the ID community?.

I have a patient who is on ertapenem for esbl organism osteomyelitis. @UHC approved 4 wks of antibiotics but now is asking for more out of pocket costs from the patient for the last 2 weeks bc of the new year. Why are you so non compassionate?.

So the DOTs trial looks nice, well done, good randomization. The only thing that brings me pause is the amount of exclusions. I get that they had to be cautious but I feel I will be waiting for the phase 3. They also have more data coming out for f/u and MSSA vs MRSA subgroups.

Got my ESCMID pin and it was wrapped in a paper towel. I thought it was thoughtful. My wife, the surgeon, said, “the college would never do that.” That is when i learned they refer to themselves as THE college.

I signed up for online escmid but realized I have to flip my schedule like I was on night shift. Anyone else? I kind of wish I could hang with someone online so I can whisper, “@DrToddLee would hate this, they didn’t even account for immortal time bias”. Small things, you know?.
