SARS-CoV-2 risk increases exponentially with age—
Yet over 2 years we restricted children’s lives more than adults..
Let’s normalise putting
#childrenfirst
and
#StopIsolatingKids
If caregivers are wearing masks, does that harm kids’ language development? No. There is no evidence of this. And we know even visually impaired children develop speech and language at the same rate as their peers.
I find it remarkable that a section of society not rejoicing that children very rarely ill with COVID compared to other viruses and much less infectious than adults
Instead trying prove the opposite!
Why??
With every new variant— there have been early reports saying it’s relatively worse for children
Even with Delta, we showed that this isn’t true...
Time to stop fear messaging for kids
So the Omicron London wave has happened *during* school holidays
Time to end the myth that schools drive hospital admissions
Time to recalibrate what’s necessary for kids
Lest we forget— UK July 2020, schools didn’t open but you could:
go out to eat in a restaurant, grab a drink at your local pub, stay at a hotel, visit a library, attend a place of worship, get your haircut.
It’s a completely nonsense— that any college/university student..
Needs to do online lectures, routinely test or mask…
It’s their third academic pandemic year.
Lets prioritise young people for a change.
Children’s Hospitals🏴 are incredibly busy (more so than busy winters already)
But not with Covid- which forms a v small proportion of work
Mainly other viruses/ infections, mental health presentations+++, catch up elective work
Sadly more costs of restricting children’s lives
Are we going to isolate hundreds of thousand of well kids every time we have a new variant?
Especially those in exam years...
The uncertainty and worry is something children don’t need now
It’s precautionary not to cancel school children’s Christmas parties, plays, choirs & concerts
Especially when adults Xmas celebrations ongoing
Kids have carried a massive burden of the pandemic already...
#StopIsolatingKids
“Two years ago, progressives critical of the government’s handling of the pandemic took to calling the UK ‘Plague Island’
Once the dust had settled, the UK was in the middle of the pack for pandemic mortality”
Education disruption:
- at the end of September all adults will have had chance to be double vaxed
- we should move away from mass asymptomatic testing well children-
and towards clinically informed testing for symptoms/ unwell stay home
SHOCKING to see MSM still platform iSAGE — now allowing them their own form of revisionism, and denying their role in polarising society…
Political activism should not be dressed up as science advice
Let’s be clear
Restrictions on children are not “public health measures”
As few loud voices suggest
Neither is fear based science messaging
Let’s reassure and support kids
A vaccinated adult population with a booster roll out
Yet we still blaming children...
Children’s rights have never been more important- a long way to go
Devastating piece. Devastating.
The anxious generation — what’s bothering Britain’s schoolchildren?
“most fragile, inadequately prepared and unhappy group of Year 13 students ever to collect A-level results.”
Testing children without Covid-19 symptoms is disrupting their education and should be stopped, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health has warned.

Cancelling school children’s Christmas parties, plays, and choirs
It is justified so adults can enjoy theirs
It’s not like kids have carried a massively disproportionate burden of pandemic..

FT on why elimination is not possible
“border closures and draconian lockdowns simply postpone the moment when Covid-19 will inevitably become endemic in a population while limiting citizen’s freedom”
Those going in to work— in solidarity with secondary school children 🇬🇧 let’s wear face coverings 8 hours/day
Particularly ministers..

until Jan 26th
A truly incredible story— a mother who reviews this data in her own personal time, and yet seems to be more knowledgeable about Covid deaths in children than most academics and public health officials working with Covid-19 👇🏽
Response from the study's author... Really frustrating that these issues weren't identified by the CDC, prior to using the data in their vaccine authorization meetings.
Indirect effects of Covid on children are so significant
That if were due to infectious disease will be getting headlines
Eating disorders, tics, sleep, worries, reduction of therapies to those with neurodev and physical needs
Let’s prioritise recovery
#StopIsolatingKids
Children are resilient to SARS-CoV-2 (an under investigated aspect)
But are much less resilient to the indirect effects of Covid pandemic
#StopIsolatingKids
When society exaggerates risk of SARS-CoV-2 for kids,
It’s Children’s wellbeing which is impacted most.
It’s time to validate the fact that we’ve overdone it with our pandemic policies on kids..
and start planning
#Recovery4Kids
Heartbreaking to have it confirmed today—
The only modelling the treasury did on Children..
Was the impact of school closures on the economy because of parents ability to work.
Ramping up the fear on young children has consequences....
It’s not precautionary to grossly exaggerate impacts of Covid in kids—
It has harmful impacts
A 12-year-old autistic girl has been barred from moving to New Zealand - and being reunited with her family - because the country's immigration policies reject people with disabilities or illnesses which may burden the health system
@TracyBethHoeg
Politics dressed up as science, kids caught in middle:
1. Exaggerating direct harms of Covid for kids
2. Underplaying negative impacts of masks
3. Exaggerating role of Schools in transmission
4. Underplaying impact of fear for kids
5. Exaggerating effectiveness of masking kids

handing out backpacks to students. She has a reception later tonight days after her Election Day victory.
🇬🇧 >87% adults double vaxed and >5 million (of 30) had third jab
Yet society still blaming the 13 million children...
Time to support and invest in kids
✅ Time to reassure kids— in-person schooling is not a luxury
❌ quarantines for contacts
❌ bubbles
❌ school onsite testing
❌ staggering school start times
✅ max access to therapies, play and social interaction
✅ invest in staff
