That two of Dumfries’ oldest buildings, most probably pre-18thC, should be demolished within a Conservation Area today in a medieval town centre should be of urgent international concern. @HistEnvScot @TheBEFS @ICOMOSUK should be looking into this case with some serious scrutiny.

Not sure which I find more bewildering: the US becoming Russia's ally, or the lack of curiosity as to why.

Where in London can you find an old style dial telephone, carved in stone. On the front of the Faraday Building on Queen Victoria Street. More carvings from the telephone system discovered in my post at https://t.co/RBQJSX3sAJ

@SPABScotland @Ihbcscotland might you have any reccommendations for a surveyor near Dumfries sympathetic to historic buildings to provide a sensible and impartial report? Kudos to @DampSurvey and others for their work trying to stamp out the racket supported by many such reports

A "damp and timber report and guarantee from specialist" has been requested by a lender for a traditional building, based on "cut and paste" advice in a surveyor's valuation report. I have overseen the refurbishment of the building, and I know there are no damp or timber issues.

One for the #HistoricCostume experts out there. I am currently trying to date this painting of Mavisbank House, Scotland (1723). There appear to be conflicts of chronology. The architecture is in its form before alterations in 1762. But the costume looks early 19th C. Opinion?

Why is Glasgow City Council even considering an application to demolish the C-Listed former ABC cinema (top), when there is an unused empty plot which is spewing millions of buddleja seeds across the city just a few hundred metres down the same street (bottom)? Cont./ #glasgow
