🎉We had a LOT of fun on our final day at #school! Class 2 made 3D models 🏗️, used Skittles to play a game (where a few went mysteriously missing), ate delicious food, and even managed to squeeze in some numeracy. ☀️ We hope everyone is enjoying their summer holidays!

This is how narratives are made. New research says children who ‘are not school-ready’ are twice as likely to be persistently absent. The author says “School is where children develop & flourish, academically, emotionally, socially, and physically.” 🧵1/16

When my son was four, we were sent a gift subscription to an educational software package called something like Education City. It has questions which children were meant to answer. I opened it up and showed it to him. He enjoyed numbers and patterns so I opened the maths

“Putting up with something because you’ve been told to do it isn’t resilience. Sticking at something because you don't feel you have the right to stop isn't resilience. In the real world, that’s passivity.”
Here’s a hack to help teenage mental health. Stop telling them that resilience means doing what adults want without complaining. Resilience means different things in different situations. It can mean saying no, this is not right. It can mean standing up for yourself, or

I am passionate about education. Working in & with schools has been my life. But for my daughter @bloglibby it was school itself that was the barrier to her learning, not her autism. She found the pressured, punitive state secondary culture so stress-inducing that she stopped

📿 This week Class 2 learned about multiplication and practiced skip counting by creating jewellery. This exercise helped Class 2 learn maths as well as improving their mobility skills - threading the numbers onto the elastic wasn't as easy as you'd think! #edutwitter #maths

🍎 Each week in their #forestschool session, Class 1 open up their outdoor snack shop, cutting fruit to sell and then serving their customers who pay using dried beans, helping develop their maths and mobility skills. 🌰 They also created bird feeders after seeing a robin!
