The @britishchambers network has campaigned relentlessly for additional support for businesses in areas facing closures, restrictions or local lockdowns. An announcement by @RishiSunak would be a welcome acknowledgement that support must keep pace with restrictions.
Further restrictions for covid hot spots Liverpool and Newcastle look imminent, such as pub closures. But I'm also told Rishi Sunak has worked up a new financial support package (his 3rd) for local businesses affected, to be unveiled simultaneously. More on @TimesRadio after 7am.
