This is one of those moments when, with one or two honourable exceptions, MPs are being utterly useless. There is one issue here. Why were the CPS not given the information they requested and who took the decision to deny them that information.

Speaking in the Security update - Officials Secrets Act Case: The 2002 and 2003 integrated reviews were very clear. All the officials and the security services called and said that China was a significant threat. That was sufficient to give to the CPS, not even by ministers but

Due to the volume of new material and the government's ever-shifting line, I have updated my rolling brief on the China spy scandal. 👇

The China revelations in the Sunday Times are squalid and enraging. This week the Government needs to prove that it didn’t deliberately collapse an investigation into Chinese espionage - and on the basis of these reports, it’s almost impossible to see how it can.

3️⃣ 🤯 stories from @cazjwheeler in the ST: ‼️ @WhiteHouse intervenes in spy scandal: intelligence sharing concerns. ‼️ Decision to shut down case was taken by Powell and Treasury 6 weeks ago. ‼️ Jinyge offered to waive compensation owed by 🇬🇧 in exchange for embassy.

A friendly note to everyone in the Labour government and the civil service. Under the next government, there will be a full investigation into the treasonous behaviour towards China. If you don’t speak out now, quit or blow the whistle, you too will be complicit in grand

So we now know they: - Collapsed the trial of the China spies & lied to Parliament about it - Made US agencies not trust us - Blocked UK intelligence from commenting on China's embassy - And we now know Reeves's motivation for getting involved (to dodge compensation) >Shameful

Sunday Times claims a Cabinet minister (probably Mahmood or Cooper?) called probably one of their junior ministers (perhaps irate security minister Dan Jarvis?) to tell them the China espionage case was being pulled at Powell’s request Either Powell is going to resign and appear

Treasury basically perverted the course of justice in order to dodge a compensation claim from a Chinese firm. See it, say it, sordid.

Three former Tory Cabinet ministers, a former chief prosecutor, a former head of MI6 and the Government’s counter-terror watchdog also questioned Sir Keir’s account of the events that led up to the collapse of the case 🧐

Keir Starmer says the Government didn’t deliberately collapse the trial of two men who spied for China. Stephen Parkinson, director of public prosecutions, says this is untrue. This is incredibly serious. The PM must answer all questions in Parliament.

Forget Tory conference or the India lobby trip: tonight the CPS is PUBLICLY blaming the Starmer government for *frustrating an espionage trial over alleged spying for China* - because of a Labour political intervention. Under normal circumstances, this should collapse the

Wife and I viewed a few properties recently with a loose plan to consider moving home next year. Then I calculated the stamp duty - a 6 figure £ sum - which would be paid out of income which has already been taxed at 45%. We’ve decided to stay put.

My speech to the Conservative Party Conference on how to reverse the UK’s decline. I didn’t hold back. The state has grown in every sphere, almost without people noticing; a wild move to the left over two decades. Farage is a socialist (look at his actual economy policy!) who

Keir Starmer claims Nigel Farage is to blame for the boat people because Brexit took us out of the Dublin Convention (in 2020), which allowed us to return asylum seekers to the EU countries from whence they came. The PM is either ignorant of the facts — or knowingly lying.

Looks like Rachel Reeves is going to lean heavily on the ‘fastest growth in the G7’ and ‘five interest rate cuts’. So many problems with these lines, but here just three… 1⃣ the UK also had the fastest growth in the G7 in the first half of 2024, under the Tories, so this is
