I played a little bit, now I talk a little bit. it’s Baseball all day/everyday. @NESN @RedSox.
Joined July 2009
Winter Meetings are about to begin and I'll be there. Woke up today like it was Christmas morning. I'm not bringing my Dog with me, but there will be walks. Sox have a lot to do.....

Just my opinion, but I find it extremely hard to believe that they're going to spend $25 per yr for another Starter given the offensive needs, unless they're planning on a $300+ payroll. Agents doing their job.
@LouMerloni I would be a big fan of this, but I was curious about your thoughts?

Kristian Campbell is 1-3 with a walk so far in his winter league debut. He looks noticeably more filled out & to have simplified his swing. Check out the difference in hand position tonight compared to August 21 with Worcester.

Your only concern is DSL arms??
@LouMerloni My only concern is they keep raiding their DSL arms and they need to be careful to keep that pipeline full - though another Cam Boozer trade could offset that

Now you're making a new argument.
@LouMerloni Never questioned you or stated that you were making things up. Just stating facts that can’t be disputed. This team and front office has a track record or targeting recently injured players that always come back to hurt them. Am I wrong?

Not all "prospects" are the same. You keep high impact ones and move on from everyone else. Craig has acquired Gray and Oviedo and hasn't given anything up. A depth Starter who may be a Reliever and an OF who needs more time. Your OF is set for a while. Plus KC is now an OF

Betts was going nowhere. They swapped him out for Owens. I really don't understand.

"You can't trade Blake Swihart and Henry Owens for Cole Hamels. Swihart is the Catcher of the future and Owen's will be Hamels"
@LouMerloni Remember everyone being pissed about giving up too much for Kimbrel? Manny Margot ended up being the best player the Sox gave up and he wouldn’t have had a spot on the roster anyway. “Logan Allen is the next Jon Lestah” 😂

One reason why they may be stockpiling depth. Trader Bres??
@LouMerloni Trading some pitching depth will be next for a bat

AS I ALREADY SAID, it's not uncommon for guys coming back from TJ to have a setback with other things stemming from the lengthy rehab. You can either believe me or think I'm making it up.
@LouMerloni I mean, misses the 2024 season due to TJ and then starts the 2025 season on the injured list due to a lat injury and not even making a single start until August? Yeah, finished the 2025 season for a handful of starts but that doesn’t send up a red flag at all?

Otero was Craig Breslow’s right-hand man with the Cubs and replaced him as Director of Pitching. Should help make for an easy transition to the Red Sox front office given their familiarity.
Per league sources: Cubs director of pitching Ryan Otero is leaving the organization to join the Red Sox as a special assistant to the CBO. Tyler Zombro is set to take on a larger role that will include oversight of the minor-league pitching department. https://t.co/4U0fBprxUM

Longterm I wouldn’t be surprised if RHP Jesus Travieso ended up the bigger piece in the Oviedo deal. Athletic, undersized 18-year-old w/lighting quick arm. FB up to 100 & advanced feel for SL & CH which already both have whiff rates over 40%. Bullpen risk, but it’s premium stuff.
