I've got my art on my online store. You could also DM me on here if you follow me.
For coasters, some can be purchased through the store but you are probably better to DM me on here if you follow me, or tag me into a Tweet.
NZ: ~6 deaths per million
US: ~ 2300 deaths per million
UK: ~2100 deaths per million
It's easy to lose track of the big picture when media focuses on the minutiae of our response.
The people who tell me I'm going to have to get a booster. Mate, some people need near daily injections to stay alive. Many people take pills every day. A booster is nothing to fear. Sit the fuck down.
Key's article, and others like it saying we are acting in "fear of Covid". I strongly disagree. We're acting in care. Care for the community. Care for our vulnerable. I don't think Key recognises that motivation.
I think it takes a special kind of stubborn to have watched the last 30 months and have not reached the conclusion that Jacinda Ardern is a very good crisis leader.
Day one, post gun legislation. Things here are getting desperate. Abby hasn't sent a care package. Packs of wild possums roam the streets. With nothing to fight them off but butter knives, and nothing to eat or drink, it is now only a matter of time.
If:
- you know what a kiwi is
- know what Te Papa is
- know what whānau means
Then it's not that Māori names for government departments are confusing, it's just you can't be bothered learning.
When the dude at Bunnings waiting for a sausage in front of me started going on about "this fucking government" and that the "economy had been shut down for something that was just the flu with a bit of a kick", I said something.
How fucking stupid do you have to be to run the dual lines that the Government books are in bad shape but we can afford tax cuts.
@NicolaWillisMP
isn't up to the job.
I'm not a hunter. I've never owned a gun. But I do fish. I've seen lots of hunters and gun owners say they will never shop at Hunting and Fishing again.
I will make sure it is the only Fishing store I use, and encourage other people who enjoy fishing to ensure they support them.
New Zealand went 101 days without community transmission, there is a movie called 101 Dalmatians, the villain is a scheming evil woman. I'm not making any links here just a collection of facts.
I don't give a fuck about underlying conditions. We have a duty as a society to protect our most vulnerable, not look for the nearest bus to throw them under.
To answer your fucking question, journalists, the Minister made a mistake, offered his resignation, but switching a Minister of Health in the middle of a fucking pandemic and getting someone else up to speed would be fucking stupid. Next!
Hello Mr Bishop
@cjsbishop
on an interview this morning you said that "repealing the ute tax" would help ease the cost of living crisis. Please provide all evidence you have that repealing the ute tax will help ease the cost of living crisis. You can treat this request as an OIA
I don't know a single person of pretty much any age who doesn't know it is not OK to sit on a table in Aotearoa New Zealand. I cringe even when I see it on American or British TV/Films.
If you are an unvaccinated teacher or health care worker and you feel that you have painted yourself into a corner, you haven't. Get vaccinated on the weekend. It's not too late to be able to turn up to work next week.
I'm a bit miffed that my friend's cousin's wife's nephew who heard from his Police officer mate's fiancee that we were definitely going into Level 4 fed me incorrect information.
Sigh. After Cam Slater's criticism of
@WhittakersNZ
I'm just going to have to buy (and eat) more chocolate to show my support for them. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
Hey
@chrisluxonmp
how can you justify tax cuts for the rich, which would mean $18k/year more for you, when at the same time you are promising sanctions for the worst off in New Zealand society? It's like you saw Robin Hood and decided the Sheriff of Nottingham was the hero.
Lol at the people saying "If you make us get vaccinated you will lose me as a customer" on the Air New Zealand vaccination story on FB. That's the point, geniuses.
New Zealand is about to reach the peak of our pandemic, when we need the greatest level of protection, and apparently 30% of us want all mandates removed? That makes absolutely no sense.
There seem to be a lot of businesses complaining about Labour at the moment, but you know who doesn't make very good customers? Dead people. Keeping people alive is/was the Government's number 1 responsibility.
We're walking towards one of the most Right-wing governments in NZ history. Luxon isn't strong enough to blunt Seymour. It's not over, but Labour think the winning strategy is moving to the right along with the opposition and I think nothing could be further than the truth.
So let me get this straight.
- the state owns a house for the Prime Minister to live in, but he chooses not to live there.
- instead, he lives in an apartment that he owns
- the state then pays the Prime Minister $1000/week to live in his own apartment
Not wanting to eat in the same place as a bunch of Typhoid Mary's is not apartheid, it's not discrimination, and it isn't Nazi Germany. It's common sense.
I genuinely struggle to see how some people look at how National managed the Christchurch earthquakes and the rebuild, look at how Labour has done with Covid, and still think somehow National would be the best option.
My sister lives in a country where 1 in 8 people have had Covid. 1 in 460 have died from it. The approach of "this fucking government" has saved thousands of lives.
I don't think this government has really been given the credit they deserve for the Covid Response by the NZ public. Even compared to Australia (who really did pretty well until the last few months) we've done outstandingly well.
I think the media want a close election because it's good for business. I just want a government that isn't lead by someone who I consider utterly corrupt.
I'd be absolutely ropable if I came back from overseas and was put up at a hotel in Rotorua for no charge for 14 days. How dare the government accommodate me for free for the greater good of the country.
So National scrapped a regional fuel tax of 12c/litre because, cost of living crisis, and now want to bring in a 22c/litre one. And, raising registration.
Gee these guys are good.
Yes. Why exactly *has* New Zealand got the lowest Covid death rate in the OECD? How come only 3 people have died this outbreak so far? How *have* we managed to keep r down so low compared to its natural value between 5 and 7? Enquiring minds want to know.
The "You've won the National voters, now you've got to keep them" thing that Labour has going on is quite something. What about those who voted Labour for Labour values?
Every time I hear the ad with Judith saying "The National Party will crush the other lot" I am reminded that she is interested only in winning and politics as some sort of bloodsport. I want a PM who primarily cares about the country more than just "winning".
The lack of thousands of deaths and long term illness from Covid in New Zealand has resulted in a massive loss of perspective. Like, why don't we have tourists? Why do I have to wait so long to have a pool built?
I don't think recognising Jacinda Ardern is a really competent communicator who has navigated some difficult crises with surety and compassion is hero worship?
So from Twitter today I have learnt that
- there is an insulation company in ChCh that has a Nazi symbol as it's logo
- It seems to be doing well enough to employ at least 4 people
- It charges $14.88 a metre for insulation
This is NZ. We have to confront it.
Am I alone and thinking if there is a worldwide shortage of RATs then it probably *is* best if Government determine how they are allocated here rather than hoarding occurring from businesses and individuals?
Because I accidentally bought beer, chocolate, hot cross buns and Twisties during my last shop, items my wife deems "non essential", she is trying to revoke my "designated shopper" status for our household.
I don't understand how so many fellow Pākeha feel threatened by a people who have been so generous and accepting, so willing to teach, despite being so wronged.
Just once, JUST ONCE, I'd like a journalist to say "Yes, Mr Luxon, we all know about what you think of Labour. Now. What are your party's SPECIFIC policies to address <insert issue here>"
Only 13 per cent of Kiwis support lowering the voting age. The last thing we need is another 120,000 voters who pay no tax voting for more spending and bigger government.
Although I poke fun at it, the antivax sentiment makes me sad. Because it won't stop them getting sick in large numbers. It won't stop heartbreak for their families, and it won't stop them putting pressure on the health system. I'm not looking forward to the next 6 months.
I don't want a timeline for ending mandates, because it really would be complete bullshit. The virus is not going to conform to the timeline you set. I want policy based on adapting to the rapidly changing circumstances.
As Bird of the Year finished before a new government was formed, we are now have a pūteketeke for Prime Minister. I'm sorry, that's just how it is. I don't make the rules.
"Hello? Oh hello Mr Luxon. No, still the same number of ICU beds. I thought I told you yesterday it isn't really a thing that changes daily. Yes, same time tomorrow Mr Luxon."
Hey
@nzherald
just wondering with the correction on one of your stories, is there someone that the public should be asking for a resignation from? I think that's how these things work these days?
This was masterful imo. Layout the stages over the weekend, and give people time to digest it. Then get to 4, without panic, in about as quick a time as it could be done without panic.
Imagine looking at Tory government in the UK, how they have totally wrecked the country, and thinking "that's the kind of government we need in New Zealand".
Of course we should only use English words in New Zealand, like cul de sac, Tsunami, Kiwi, Karaoke, Entrepreneur, Ballet and the like. Why would anyone think otherwise.
