When I hear, "Electoral reform can't happen bcuz the parties can't agree," the conclusion is simple: the parties shouldn’t be in charge of electoral reform. It’s hard to fathom just how much better a democracy designed by voters for voters could be❤️.#citizensassembly #cdnpoli.

In today’s @TorontoStar, @JohnLorinc correctly identifies who gets to make election rules (last election’s winner) yet fails to problematize this giant conflict of interest. Who would change a system which brings them to power? That’s a problem!.

Crazy opinion I know @ElectionsCan_E, but 91 candidates taking our electoral system to its “breaking point” probably says more about how ill-suited our democracy is to genuine participation than it does about how dangerous we are 🤔.

Update: parliament prorogued, PROC disbanded, and bill C-65 is ☠️. Because election rules are for MPs to decide (rather than an independent nonpartisan body) it’ll take years before any new changes to the Election Act can be implemented. #cdnpoli #unstoppable #citizensassembly.
