I FINALLY did it: I crossed 1600 Rapid.🔥🔥
It took me 1yr to go from 1000 to 1500.
Then, from 1500 to 1600: 9.5 months!
All blood, sweat, and tears. 🙏 Hundreds of hours of serious study & play.

It's easy to assume you're not improving. Often, we make this judgment on a short timeline (guilty 🙋♂️.)
For months, I've deemed myself to be in a plateau.
But 1 year ago today, I was rated 1307 on Rapid. Today, I'm rated 1540.🤔

It's still difficult to spend 7.5 hours on three games only to walk away with all losses.

Today I compete at the IL Open State Championship.
I wish I knew my opening lines better.
But ya know what? That's how I've felt for *every* tournament.
Yet my USCF rating keeps rising. "Ready" is a myth. The lesson is to keep marching forward.

On my own initiative, I bought over a dozen chess books. I studied them on this set that my Dad bought me.
