The Government is taking three years to review social care funding – ignoring the completely unsustainable pressure this is putting on local services. I'm putting the pressure on the Government to do more, sooner. #SocialCare #LocalGovernmentFunding #LibDems

Prepared for the end of recess – we can’t submit motions or questions to ministers on behalf of constituents during the break (again, what a way to run a country?!), so we have lots ready to go.

Supported hard-working Liberal Democrats, including Louise Bird, standing for election in Trafford; at the Welsh Liberal Democrats Conference; and at a local afternoon tea.

Met up face-to-face 🤝 with people to help them with their issues at my constituency advice surgery. Got support for residents at Battersby Court in Offerton, who will now get their outgoing post picked up directly, after the nearby post box was stolen. 📮

I am horrified and appalled by the hideous attack outside the Heaton Park synagogue. My thoughts are with the victims and their families, our emergency services and our Jewish community in Greater Manchester and beyond.

Horrified and appalled by the attack outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. My thoughts are with the victims, our brave emergency services and the entire Jewish community.

I leave the Home Office brief to the excellent Max Wilkinson, and Women & Equalities with the brilliant Marie Goldman. They are both extremely talented (and genuinely decent people) who will do a brilliant job speaking for our party on some of the thornier issues facing us.

It's a huge honour to be asked by Ed to take on a more strategic role as Cabinet Office spox. The battle lines for the next General Election & the future of our country, are being drawn. It's a vital time to be working with the leader on our party's strategy and positioning.

Very sad to hear of Ming Campbell’s passing this morning.
Ming Campbell was a dedicated public servant and a true Liberal giant. His principled leadership opposing the Iraq War was a mark of his morality, courage and wisdom. But more than that, he was an incredibly warm and caring friend and colleague. We will miss him terribly.

This week I stood up to ask Parliament about the impact that the delays to prosecutions for crimes like sexual assault are having on people like local resident Louise. It is situations like this which have driven our new policing policy launched today. https://t.co/BYHYeplS0J

I visited the Nationwide in Marple - they've guaranteed branches will stay until at least 2028. Too many banks have closed locally, and I’m fighting for more access, not less.
