Lingua Deo Gloria's first book is finally published! "In the Beginning: A Child's Beginner Book of Biblical Hebrew" is now available on all online retailers. I chose not to make any profit on this to make the book as cheap as possible. It is dedicated to my daughter, Mercy.
Here is another example page that our students at Lingua Deo Gloria Ministries are reading from in their first semester. We have written and produced this ourselves, imitating Hans Orberg and his masterful Lingua Latina Per Se Illustra. Please excuse the typos, it is a work in
I apologize if you are a person who hates spoiler alerts. But, here is another page from my Biblical Hebrew Children's book that I hope to release in December. I hope you enjoy!
Working on a project for the letter of Jude in the Greek New Testament. It is a mixture of a standard "reader Bible" while incorporating pictures to help aid comprehension. We hope to publish this one chapter book with our already finished Philemon project sometime this summer.
Another sample of our work on Jude in the Greek New Testament. It is a short book. We will probably pair it with the book of Philemon and then publish it later this summer.
I am working away on the Gospel of Mark project! It is under heavy construction so excuse my errors that I will fix. However, here is the first page that I thought I would share with you all for fun!

Stuck on the couch at home today recovering from my surgery. Experimenting a little with a future children’s book of Koine Greek! Trying to think of the best ways to introduce the Greek alphabet to children.
Exciting news! We are almost done with the work on the book of Philemon in Greek. I have a friend from China who is eager to translate our works into Mandarin. So, by God's grace, this may be the first of our works translated into another language! Thank you all for your support!
THE RUTH BIBLICAL HEBREW VISUAL READER IS OFFICIALLY RELEASED!! It is free for download on the LDG site. I worked many hours to finish this before the semester started. I pray that this will help those who cannot afford good quality biblical language learning materials. 🔥🔥
This is one of the pages in the project. It needs to be cleaned up, but I hope that the pictures are self-explanatory. This project will contain the whole Biblical text of Jonah and will be released for free :)

What started out as an idea to teach my daughter the animals in the Hebrew Bible has turned into a significant project of mine. Lord willing, I will release this before the end of the year!
Exciting news! Our first Biblical Greek visual reader is finished and available for FREE PDF download on our website . Feel free to share with your friends or others desiring to read the Biblical Greek text of 1 John. Attached below are sample pictures!
Hey everyone! I will be studying Philemon and Jude for the next several months so I thought I would take advantage of the time and work on projects for these books! Philemon will be my FIRST project that will function as a FULL Biblical Greek reader. Check out the preview below!
The Koine Greek Visual Reader on the book of Philemon is finished! It is the first of our projects to provide a mini-glossary at the end and also incorporates English glosses at the bottom of each page! Check out the LDG site for the free PDF download! Here is a sample!
Working on an original Biblical Hebrew story for my Hebrew students. It is a very basic project in these early stages, but a lot of fun! Forgive my typos; it is a work in progress! Think of this as a Hebrew version of Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata by Hans Orberg!
Having fun working on the cover design of the Greek children's book, a companion to the recently released biblical Hebrew children's book. It still will be a while before it is fully finished and released, but I thought I would share a rough draft of the book cover with you all!
Friends, we teach Biblical Hebrew for free because we do not want money to be a hindrance for people seeking access to learn God’s word. All people, regardless of financial state, should have unhindered access to the word of God in its original languages.
Many Muslims teach their children Arabic to study the Quran and Jews teach their children Hebrew to study the Hebrew Bible. I contend that Christians should do the same with Hebrew and Greek. It is a practice of Christian discipleship and training our children up to be competent
Happy Thanksgiving! Here is the front cover of the children's book that we plan on publishing before the end of the year. It is called "In the Beginning". We pray that this will be a joy, especially to little children. We will be the first to read through it with our baby girl :)
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: As many of you know, all of our online resources are free and are in the public domain. That means they are released for free and can be copied, translated, sold, redistributed (and all that other jargon) to the world without infringing copyright laws or
After publishing my first book this week I found out that I was diagnosed with the same cancer that my mother died from when I was 13. I echo with Job: "Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?" I do not know what the outcome will be. (1/4)
Who is the mysterious figure who mailed to us 30 freshly printed copies of our Ancient Greek Children’s book? We may have to do a give away in the near future!
We are writing more original Hebrew stories like this for our Level 2 Hebrew classes beginning at the end of this month! It is challenging to know how soon to introduce new concepts and categories without confusing the students at the early stages, yet all the while somehow
You guys jumped passed the 1,000 mark today! We are happy to have attained 1,000 followers within the first 7 months of existence. Thank you for your support as we seek to bring quality, free Biblical language education and materials to people all across the world! Within this
We are working to see a biblical language revolution occur in the Church in the next 20-30 years so that many people, both young and old, rich and poor, man and woman from many cultures will be able to read the Bible in the original languages with joy. You might think this is
Hello everyone. We are opening up two free Biblical Hebrew classes starting this May. We will speak, listen to, read, and write Biblical Hebrew. We are a non-profit that exists to teach the Biblical languages for free. If you know anyone who wants to learn Hebrew, especially
Today our children's book of Biblical Greek is finally released! Apparently some have gotten their hands on it a day or two before the release date.. Not sure how that happened but happy to see that families are using this to learn the Greek of the New Testament (and broader
Recently, my professor who first taught me Greek suggested that I do a work on the Greek book of Philippians. I was humbled that he would reach out and suggest this and thought it would be a good idea. It's a work in progress, but I hope to release this before year's end!
Exciting update, everyone! I am going to begin teaching spoken Biblical Hebrew online for FREE beginning January 2024 through our website. Spots are limited because I need to still provide for my family. However, feel free to spread the word to those interested!
Next week begins our summer classes! We have our first level 2 courses beginning. We are currently working at break-neck speed trying to write and produce more material for our level 2 students. It is tough trying to produce material when you have a bear breathing down your neck,
The more I study Hebrew and Greek the more I am surprised that most Christians in the United States choose to learn Greek instead of Hebrew because they think it will be easier. I think the opposite is true. It seems to me that Hebrew is easier to learn and comprehend. The reason

Language learning tip
#1
: Get 8-hours of sleep. In a day when people brag about going to work with 5-hours, we must realize that God renews our minds when we sleep well. Don't fall for the lie that says you can get more done if you often sacrifice quality sleep.
I am convinced that language learning is not dependent upon "talent" or "skill", as is the common assumption. God has given most people on the planet the ability to learn multiple languages to fluency (flexible term) under the right circumstances. Rather, success in language
Hello everyone! I am currently teaching two FREE spoken Biblical Hebrew courses which last 12 weeks (one on Tuesday and one on Saturday). Attached below is an ever expanding list of the language points that we practice in class each week if you are interested!
How amazing would it be to train up children in the Biblical languages so that by the time they were in their early 20s they would have knowledge on par with competent scholars!
Since we have had many new followers join lately, I thought I would share that we have had two new children’s picture books released in the last number of months, one for Biblical Greek and one for Biblical Hebrew. Here they are! The book in the middle is a Spanish/English book
What has my life come to that I ask my wife for the Targums of Genesis for an early Christmas gift? Thank you
@Timothy_A_Lee
for the pretty book. It is sturdier and more attractive in hand than I expected!
Here is how you say "sunrise" and "sunset" in Biblical Hebrew. Interestingly, it differs from our modern, Western mindset. Literally, the sun "departs/goes forth" from the earth, and the sun "goes" (i.e. returns) to the earth. The earth is central in the Biblical mindset!
Learning grammar deeply is necessary for rightly understanding any ancient language. However, it should never be a substitute for reading MANY source texts OFTEN. Being a pro in grammar does not mean that one understands the texts that they read. That comes from reading a lot.
Learning the basic vocabulary of any language by looking at pictures is far more effective than by flashcards with translations. I am enjoying making some Classical Syriac picture "flashcards".
A VERY early preview of the first page of Lamentations that I am working on. It has proved to be far more formidable an opponent than books like Ruth and Jonah. The whole book is poetic (and extraodinarily beautiful) but that adds to the challenge of the work!
#BiblicalLanguages
Working on my children's Hebrew picture book. My Hebrew Bible on the left and an English children's book on the right as a reference :) It is fun making difficult languages easier for people. I cannot wait till this finished.
Working on Biblical Aramaic slides to help students learn personal pronouns. Wish I could share PDFs on Twitter. I don't think I can. I may post them on my website in a few weeks since I cannot do it here to the best of my knowledge.
Hey everyone! Amazon has put a sale on our new Biblical Hebrew children's picture book. Since I am already selling this at cost, they are losing money for each copy sold! I am not sure for how long Amazon will keep up this sale offer. Feel free to check it out!
It seems that students of the biblical languages often think "harder is better". Sadly, this is not the truth. Having fun while learning a language is the best way to implant the language in your long-term memory. Do not fall for the old-fashioned belief that you have walk out of
Friends and supporters of Lingua Deo Gloria! We are happy to say that we have sold around 430 copies of our Greek children’s picture book and almost 300 copies of our Hebrew children’s picture book within only the first few months of their existence! We would encourage those of
What if we could exponentially reproduce men and women all throughout the global Church who knew the biblical languages and could study and enjoy the text of Scripture with depth, insight, and maturity?
If you are a new follower and don’t know what we do:
We are a nonprofit ministry dedicated to freely teaching people Biblical Hebrew according to a communicative methodology, while maintaining a strict hold to the importance of traditional grammar. We also produce biblical Greek
I am getting close to finishing the Jonah project! Here is one of the pictures that will appear in the book that describes the raging sea. This construction with the participle הוֹלֵך intensifies the second participle סֹעֵר and emphasizes that the storm rages harder and harder.
Lingua Deo Gloria Ministries is excited to announce that this Fall we will begin our first free in-person class. It will also be our first class aimed at youth (some with their parents if they so desire - which we highly encourage). This is another step towards our goal of seeing
Hey friends! Below is a video talking about our current work and future aspirations for Lingua Deo Gloria. We pray that the biblical languages will be as common in the Christian home as English! Feel free to check it out and let us know what you think!
I dream about the day that
@logos
@AccordanceBible
@crossway
@zondervan

(among others) would release all of their online materials and e-books for free to the global Church. Their contribution would go down as one of the greatest educational gifts to the church in human
Our Hebrew program works in the following way: once you are accepted and start learning Hebrew with us, there is no end to the number of free Hebrew classes you can learn in the future with us. It is line a slip-stream. We start at a low level and eventually work our way up to
Below is a video in which
@dougsmith1977
interviewed me concerning my views on language pedagogy, Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic, among other things. Hopefully you can track with the interview and that my stammering speech won't distract from the main points!
This has to be the first time a Biblical Hebrew book has made it up to

on the "hot new releases" in the Children's & Teens Christian Education category on Amazon. It is funny that the back cover appears instead of the front cover 😅 141 copies were sold in only a few weeks! 😮
We are working to see the day when whole families can have fun learning Hebrew and Greek together at home, rather than just leaving it to students to intensively study at schools and in dusty library cubicles. Perhaps “fun” shouldn’t be the main goal of language learning but it
This will be the title page for the Gospel of John Project when I release it. I tried to capture the themes of "light" and "darkness" that are prevalent in the first chapter.
New Year's goals: If the Lord wills (James 4:15) we plan to 1) Get Lingua Deo Gloria Publishing up and running by creating Biblical Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek children's books 2) Apply to become a non-profit, and 3) Start freely teach Biblical Hebrew to many across the globe
As teachers, it should be our goal to have our students one day far surpass our knowledge and understanding of the subjects we teach. May we leave to our students a rich heritage.
(4/4) Depending upon the results of the surgery, I may indefinitely cease my labors of serving you all through Lingua Deo Gloria. I will keep you updated as things progress.
In Christ,
If some of you do not know, the free PDF of the book is downloadable on our website! I had a man from Pakistan recently contact me saying that he printed off this free PDF and sent me a video of him teaching his Hebrew class with it! It is encouraging to see that this is truly
Thank you
@AlephwithBeth
for producing free Hebrew videos that I can watch with my daughter :) she loved your first video that we watched together today. It is nice to see how natural and effective your videos are for teaching people of all ages!
For those interested and are able, I would encourage you to learn Modern Hebrew. When the language was revived, it took significantly from ancient Hebrew AND Aramaic. Your comprehension of Aramaic will increase as you study Modern Hebrew. This is greatly beneficial as you read
Congratulations
@EfrainHdezChica
. You will receive the first author's copy of our new book "In the Beginning: A Child's Book of Biblical Hebrew" (expect a message soon). Thank you to all who participated and are supporting this ministry.
The documents are fully submitted for "In the Beginning: A Child's Beginner Book of Biblical Hebrew". Hoping that it will be released late this month but the holiday rush may push the printing off until early January. In the meantime, enjoy a sample page of the seasons in Hebrew!
My family moved this week and these are the books that are now gracing our living room
@cjfresch
@Steve_Runge
. To be situated beside Smyth is a great compliment :) These works were hugely instrumental when I took an advanced Greek grammar course with Dr. Gentry a few years back
Hey you guys! Just finished the Jonah project. I am looking over a few final details and plan to release it in the next few hours. In the meantime, I will begin a similar project on the story of Ruth. Here is a rough draft of the front cover! Hope you like it.
Contrary to the story of Pinocchio, where having a long nose is a result of lying, in the Hebrew Bible Yahweh has a long nose (more literally, "long nostrils"), because he is "slow to anger". Interesting how both anger and patience are connected to Yahweh's nose descriptions!
So many people fear the Biblical languages because they seem too hard of a mountain to climb. Because of this, I highly recommend the work that
@AlephwithBeth
and
@AncientGreekCI
are doing to make difficult things accessible to all people.
Just remember that this Sunday is no more important than last, and neither will it be more important than next. Every Sunday is the Lord’s Day, and every Lord’s Day we celebrate the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
The more I read the Hebrew Bible, the more I love the Hebrew language. It is truly infectious. Beware beginner language learners. You might start something that you never realized you would devote your life to :)
Christ Jesus is the only way to be free from the fear of death. I encourage all my followers to trust in Him. It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment (Hebrews 9:27). (3/4)
I get the modern benefits of Bible study software with its instant tools to search and find anything (or having 50 tabs open at once to reference literally anything you can imagine). But often, instead of helping, I open up Logos and lose my ability to study because there is too
The time has come! We are working on applying for non-profit status with the US government. This is a very rough draft of part of the constitution and by-laws for Lingua Deo Gloria Ministries. Thank you for all of your support and we are excited to see more great things happen!
HOT TAKE: One of the fundamental flaws of our modern Western-world biblical/theological educational system is that it unintentionally ostracizes the poor. It caters to wealthy Christians. Those with money can pay for seminary education and degrees from online educational
If you are ever curious why we decide not to make any profit on our works but instead give out all of our biblical language works for free, this is why. Watch this video. It is sad to watch, yet important. And ends on a note of hope.
Congratulations
@A2Shutt
, you have won the first copy of our new Greek book which releases a week from today! We pray that it would bring you and your family great joy!

Books I bought a couple of years ago. We just moved house and my wife found them again! Simple, enjoyable, easy to read. We need more easy Koine books. Support Ben Kantor

if you want to see more. I do. Thx Ben. ΕΥΧΑΡΙΣΤΩ ΣΟΙ!
In the future we plan on providing a comprehensive Biblical language curriculum and program which will include FREELY teaching Aramaic (Biblical and beyond) to those who have reached the higher levels of our Hebrew courses. If you are interested in supporting such a goal, we
I used to go to church with Scott McQuinn. He is a great guy and has written an exceptional MA thesis on biblical language pedagogy from the communicative language approach.
Professors are often constrained to maintain a system of instruction that caters to students who are in a rush and have unrealistic or naive expectations of how long it should take to learn Hebrew. These students could benefit from this perspective:
Had a great time in an interview with Jordan Steffaniak of the

Currently working on a word-by-word music video in Biblical Hebrew for Jonah 2 (Jonah's prayer)! Hopefully it will be a good tool to help students easily memorize the harder poetry of the book since Jonah 2 is a conglomeration of partial Psalms that Jonah had memorized.
Well this is unexpected.. Our book is up to

One of the simple reasons we teach SPOKEN ancient Hebrew in class is because we love the language so much and want to be exposed to it for as much time as possible.
