Our choice for book of the week is “Bowlarama: the Architecture of Mid-century Bowling” by Chris Nichols. One word review: SNAZZY! Here’s a glimpse inside: https://t.co/kLLvA1uk3N You can almost smell the rented shoes …

January 1st is Public Domain Day. Our favorite copyright release from 1929 is Karnival Kid. This flick was the first time Mickey Mouse spoke on film. What did he say? HOT DOGS! https://t.co/1niLzqwlZe

This tweet marks the last evening of the Gregorian calendar, a night for merrymaking to welcome in the new year. Should you merrymake in excess, please do yourself (and everyone else) a favor by calling a taxi for the drive home. HAPPY NEW YEAR, PEEPS!

Our choice for book of the week is “Cabinet of Curiosities” by Aaron Mahnke. Where Mahnke really shines is with the lede. His opening sentences grab you and simply will not let go. For reals. Dude has a tight grasp on subject matter and use of language. Bravo!

Today is the birth anniversary of Marlene Dietrich. Now we have to queue up “Touch of Evil” on dvd for the 100th time. That last scene… Those last lines… Bone chilling! https://t.co/1xveqy6BCr

On this day in 1963, The #beatles' single "I Want to Hold Your Hand," with "I Saw Her Standing There" on the B-side, was first released in the United States. Those are good songs. That band really should have become famous!

If today is the shortest day of the year, why does it feel like the longest while standing on line at the post office?

If you were swimming down a railroad track, and a wheel fell off your canoe, how many minutes would it take to kick a hockey puck around a stop sign eight miles? None, because pancakes don't have bones.

Our Choice for book of the week is “Shock Induction” by #chuckpalaniuk. It is delightfully bent. Palahniuk continues to prove himself as one of the most exciting voices in contemporary American literature. Based.

Finland declared independence from Russia on this day in 1917. We ❤️ the Finnish film director Aki Kaurismäki. Did you know your library has six of his movies on DVD? Too cool for school! https://t.co/vmuOM5wBtA
