Only the Hub community has the technical power to approve or suspend community pool funding, and I believe in the community's ability to use that power wisely! And committees should help us make those decisions efficiently, not make them for us. (6/6).

In this model, I propose an oversight committee with no technical powers beyond what they hold as community members. Its membership is proposed by the team seeking funding, and approved by the community. 🤝 (5/6).

Instead, what if the norm was to release those funds directly into a vesting account controlled by the funded team (like @notionaldao did)? What about an oversight committee whose only job is to pay attention and advise the community itself on whether to suspend funding? (4/6).

Optimistic funding assumes the best: the community's decision to fund the workstream means we believe the work will get done. Why fund something we don't believe in? Why introduce additional checkpoints before the team can access their community-granted funding? 🤔 (3/6).

The model of a 'trusted multisig' implies that we trust those multisig members more than we trust the team we're funding. In fact – we trust them more than we trust ourselves, because the model transfers funding authority from the community to the multisig. (2/6).

When thinking about improving Hub governance, I ask: "What can we do NOW, with no technical changes?". In his essay on the future of the @cosmoshub, @PossibltyResult suggests a shift in perspective — governance should be optimistic towards the team we're funding. 🧵 (1/6).
