#NowPIaying #jazz 1973 us stereo reissue. Happy birthday Kenny Dorham. An all time great. This is his blue note album I was slowest to come around on oddly. Title track was a little too going for sidewinder and rest never fully clicked. Has now tho. And Hancock in this esp

#NowPlaying #Jazz 1975 Japan. Saturday morning music. Nice Sam Jones (w Cedar Walton & Billy Higgins) Japanese release. Adds a string quartet on half the tracks which gives what would be a regular piano trio album a nice spiritual jazz feel

#NowPIaying #Jazz 1990 us ojc reissue. Now this Clifford Jordan quartet album. The combo of Jordan and Walton makes this a very blues-y affair. Nowhere near the top of a Jordan album ranking but pretty nice stuff. And cig smoking cover!

#NowPlaying #Jazz 1990 us ojc reissue. Debut as leader for Cedar Walton after holding down piano duties in the Jazz messengers. As credited various trio, quartet and quintet lineups. Mostly straight ahead hard bop but some of the best sidemen to make that music w here

#NowPlaying #jazz 1990 us ojc reissue. Early-ish Kenny Dorham in quartet form sans piano (tho he does play piano himself on one song). Slimmed down lineup here really highlights Dorham well

#NowPlaying #jazz Running thru 3 of the greatest blue note albums. Have always viewed these 3 as a trilogy of sorts & finally got a 70s rvg copy of Destination Out to complete it. Some of the best & still forward sounding jazz that exists imo

#NowPlaying️ #jazz 1977 Japan stereo reissue. Now this classic from Kenny Drew. Maybe a top 10? Blue note session imo. Just absolutely wonderful hard bop

#NowPlaying #Jazz 1974 Japanese mono reissue. Happy birthday Kenny Drew. Really nice piano trio album. Drew is good here but album is made by the Paul Chambers - Philly Joe Jones combo

#NowPlaying #jazz 1978 us. Really love the baseball cover art on this great jazz trio album. Something so late 70s about it. Nice album too. Carter & Jones are good but imo Williams steals the show

#NowPlaying #Jazz 1988 us. Really great David Murray trio album w two generation before masters (Joe Chambers & Richard Davis). Really good stuff that doesn’t quite stray too far out (for Murray)

#NowPlaying #jazz 1982 us. Top tier Waldron w an amazing group here. 1st song let’s Jordan go just about hard bop swing mode for a bit & then things get darker & deep into vintage Waldron territory. McBee is great on here as usual

#NowPlaying #Jazz 1979 us. No idea what Farrell/label were thinking w this album cover art. Has a very “hey there fellow kids” feel but album is very good. Farrell stays on tenor sax & Chick Corea joins mostly in non-fusion hard bop mode w a little electric piano mixed in
