In today's seminar, we asked the audience to what extent they would recommend guest worker programs to manage migration. Lara White and Suresh Naidu discussed their advantages and disadvantages, showing in which aspects and under which circumstances they can be positive.

Suresh - "Experimental evidence from the UAE-India migration corridor shows that, despite high costs and harsh conditions, long-term gains outweigh short-term losses. Strengthening labor standards and its enforcement could actually boost migration levels."

Lara- While traditional guest worker programs have weaknesses in their design and implementation, with correct regulation and oversight to safeguard the protection of migrants' labour and human rights, they can benefit workers, employers, countries of origin and work communities.
